2003 25 hp merc 2 stroke impeller replacement

TL;DR : how do I drop the lower unit to change the impeller? Looks like the shift shaft is holding it on. Manual says disconnect the linkage near the cable, but on my remote shift model that doesn't release anything. Long version: My boat found a crab pot. Couldn't figure out why it would stall...

1978 5.7l pre-alpha with alpha gen 1 drive over heating

Not necessarily, and that's what a leak down test would show. Combustion gases are under a lot higher pressure than what you'll be pressurizing the block to.

The rest of your compression numbers aren't so hot either

Mercrusier 350 MAG MPI - RPM issue under a load

Just that you wouldn't expect a reading of 0 or 5v on the TPS even if all the way open/closed

    Hole shot, Mercruiser 4.3L

Actually just realized I made a mistake in my OP. The bigger prop was actually 23p, and I've been using a Michigan 21p. The 4 blade was a 19p. All were fixed hub. I'm waiting on a new lock washer for the 4 blade, and needed a bigger socket than my 1 1/16 for the included brass nut. I think the...

4.3 Alpha One - Gimball bearing issue

I'm going with faulty gimbal bearing install. Doesn't look like there was water intrusion in the bellows that would rust the bearing to the shaft. Was the water in your shift shaft bellows? The rust I see is in the water passage, which is where water should be Edit: didn't see @dubs283...

1995 Mercruiser 454 mag EFI SKI Temperature Sender

We don't know what you're working on (same as your other post). Generally one is for the gauge and one for the alarm. Usually on the thermostat housing, tan wire

Mercrusier 350 MAG MPI - RPM issue under a load

Most/all 5v sensors don't operate at 0 or 5v (so somewhere in between) so that the PCM can tell if there's a disconnection/short in the circuit

Water leaking from block but pressure tested fine?

Aside from being undersized if it's a starter wire, what makes it unapproved?

    2014 MPI fault codes 321 & 322

Lazy o2 sensor could do that, not reacting quickly enough. Can you post the values at the time of the fault? Does your reader allow you to look at how quickly o2 sensor cycles, and min/Max voltages?

    Bow mount fuel tank. Balance?

You can try moving your current tank to the bow and add some additional ballast to see how it would do

Mercrusier 350 MAG MPI - RPM issue under a load

If you're positive that this follows Pcms and it's reproducible when you disconnect the map, then this has to be an information problem to the PCM, right? But you need to be sure that it's reproducible (most of the time... Other times makes it seem like it's not) What's wot rpm when it's running...

Mercruiser Alpha One Gen I Winterization

Oof, looks like the floor is still in the way. You *can* probably reach from the front, but it will suck. Have some spare plugs handy for when you drop them in the bilge and a magnet won't pick em up. Good luck with the spark plugs.

    Mercruiser 470 Starter

Yup, meant to follow up on this. I knew it was an auto pattern, makes sense that it's Ford. The newer 470s (3.7) do have an integrated solenoid with a slave, the earlier ones don't have the slave. Thanks for the correction.

Mercrusier 350 MAG MPI - RPM issue under a load

That doesn't make sense to me. Map temp should be exactly the same temp as what it is measuring, plus maybe a bit because of increased under cowling temps. Some auto pcms will lower fuel charge to account for lower air density at higher temps, though I think that that's more heavily weighted in...

    Battery discharge. ...normal?

Ha, this solution never occurred to me. I've never owned a car or boat new enough to have a warranty.
