    1983 200hp Black max overheating at/over 4000rpm

That motor has thermostats and a poppit valve. Thermostats cool the motor at low speed and the poppit opens to cool the motor at high speed. I would recommend you replace the thermostats, so the system is configured properly. At about 2000 PM the poppit valve should open. You might inspect...

Disconnecting the fuel line, let engine burn gas ?

When Evinrude went to 50::1 gas-oil ration, it was because they converted their sleeve bearings to roller and needle bearings. Sleeve bearings need more oil in the mix to rotate properly. By 1964 all Johnnyrude models had been converted.

    Which are bilge/drain plugs

The ones with the black plastic perimeters are not the bilge drain. The one in the very bottom with a painted perimeter is likely the bilge drain plug. You should see it is open on the inside of the bilge. The painted hole higher up is the splashwell drain. It is above the waterline and...

    98 xr6 150 backfire issue.

Sounds more like a miss, vs a backfire. if your timing is correct, maybe the carbs idle mixtures are a bit lean? Lean mixture would give a good idle, but not have enough fuel to accelerate smoothly. 1800 RPM is a bit higher than normal for main jets to engage. Normally I thought that was...

Disconnecting the fuel line, let engine burn gas ?

Two cycle engines provide gasoline and oil to each cylinder. The concern is that if you disconnect the fuel supply to a multi carb, multi cylinder 2 cycle engine, some carbs will run out of fuel sooner, and the engine will continue to run without any oil to some cylinders. Stabilize the fuel...

    Oil pressure gauge wiring

Purple is ign power to gauges. Brown/white is trim gauge sender. Tan/blue is overheat horn. Not sure what tan/black and tan/white wires are. Tan is generally used for alarm wires. See if you can trace their origins under the motor cowling. Oil pressure alarms to the ECU are usually...

    Trim stopped working

I do not remember if the Alpha 1 PTT units had circuit breakers. You need to look it over. They might have had a large fuse. It would look sorta like the old fashioned main breaker in your parent's house's fuse box. Two copper flat connectors and a square heavy fuse between them. use some...

    Mercury Black Max XR2 150

Depending on the year, that motor has a single 40A voltage regulator, twin 20Amp voltage regulators, or a rectifier and unregulated charging system. A 1987 Merc 150XR2 looks to have the rectifier. Newer motors have the VRs. Not sure of the charging capacity of the '87, but expect to be no...

    Trim stopped working

Some of those PTT systems have circuit breakers. Some of the PTT motors themselves have circuit breakers inside them. I would recommend you jumper the PTT motor directly. Do you have a 3 wire (green, black, blue) or a 2 wire (green, blue) PTT motor?

Using Aluminum plate for a transom instead of wood

My fiberglass speedboat has a 3/8" piece of aluminum bolted to the wooden cored transom. It gives added strength. However, if that was the only transom, it might bend under stress. The plywood core of the transom is better for shock absorption. Not sure what thickness of plate you would...

    Trim tilt

The trim limit switch is on the pivot point of the outdrive. Corrosion keeps them from operating working properly. Take it apart and clean it up, or use the trailer button.

    Optimax 200 overheating specific conditions

Right, no pump base. I get it. The impeller has a bottom, sometimes called the base of the impeller. If that rubber takes some damage, the motor can overheat at idle and cool fine at high idle and higher RPM.

    gear box oil leaking

Smell the stuff that is leaking. If it stinks like rotten eggs, it is gear oil, and you have a leak. A pressure test is the best way to find out where the leak is. Alternatively, if it smells like oil or gasoline, it is 2 cycle oil and normal.

    Replacing Flotation Foam

So he should put heavy weights on the deck to lessen the chance the floor will get busted up by the foam? What sense does that make? Also, what is advantage of cutting holes in new deck to pour the foam in, and then repairing them? Also makes no sense. Pour the foam, let it cure, cut off...

    Trim tilt

Are you saying that the power trim up function won't work? If so, does the trailer tilt up function work?

18’ nitro 150 blackmax rooster tail or no rooster tail?!?

A rooster tail is wasted power. It does look cool though.

    Jon boat trailer wheel wobble.

The play in the bearings/hub you show in the movie is very bad and unsafe. Remove the cotter pin and tighten the nut with a wrench, while spinning the hub. Now, without moving the hub, loosen the nut and then hand tighten the nut. Now check the hub for proper movement. Hubs should turn...

    1971 Ted Williams game fisher

There was a replacement module for the points used in the 1970s. Those were green square plastic. They use the magnet on the flywheel as a trigger to fire the coil. I think you still needed the condenser, but not sure. Those are likely still around in some form.

    Optimax 200 overheating specific conditions

Actually I said impeller base. If the impeller base gets some damage, the Mercs will overheat at idle, but run cool at high idle and faster.

2-Stroke Intermittent Bogging During Break-In (25:1 oil mix)

a 25::1 gas- oil mix should never foul a spark plug. 60 years ago all 2 cycle motors ran that mix or one with more oil, the best we had was magneto systems and non detergent SAE 30 motor oil, and they still didn't foul spark plugs,
