    Where to get carpet

Re: Where to get carpet In this picture I hadn't done cleanup on the floor yet, and have just realized that I never did another shot with the floor specifically: 40 year old floor, and fake smoked wood finish on the seats to boot. Newer stuff is MUCH nicer looking. A couple of guys have...

    72 omc stern drive 225 overhting ???

Re: 72 omc stern drive 225 overhting ??? It's tough (I think) to submerge the drive enough to get water running through the system. It's supposed to be this deep when operating: If you've got this hose attachment on your unit, run some water in that to see if the system is cooling: If you...

    72 omc sterndive electric shift

Re: 72 omc sterndive electric shift What kinda' controller are you using Rich? There were two or three possibilities. On mine: The shifting is simply forward to engage forward, back to engage reverse (gotta' push the little button on top). To "rev" in neutral, all you can do is pull the...

    OMC 2.3 Oil Change Problem

Re: OMC 2.3 Oil Change Problem Mine's an older unit ('72), but the type of "top" he's talking about you can see in this picture: Toward the bottom right of the photo, you can see the dipstick and the oil drain connection next to each other.

    1978 140 HP OMC Engine/Sterndrive problems

Re: 1978 140 HP OMC Engine/Sterndrive problems I can't tell where the wires are going in that photo, but I can't see the knife connectors typical of electric shift. What Howard meant by the props is that an electric shift prop would look like this: ... You might have a prop that allows...

    Truck Tires Online

Hey y'all: anyone had a really good experience buying truck tires online? If yes, from where? My E150 runs load range E tires, but on 16" rims. Those haven't been too bad to buy locally, but my new-to-me Dodge 2500 is on 17" rims ... yeouch!! Them's expensive tires!

    1978 140 HP OMC Engine/Sterndrive problems

Re: 1978 140 HP OMC Engine/Sterndrive problems IF you're electric shift, you should be able to find the shift cables for your drive on the port side of the engine back by the intermediate housing. They'll look kinda' like this: You can see mine resting on the top of the blower hose. There...

stringer 800 wont shift into forward

Re: stringer 800 wont shift into forward Shoot a coupla' pictures and post 'em up. Maybe you do have an 800 after all ... I don't really see where they clipped a 350 on any of the Stringers, so there's a chance you have something of a "Franken-motor" and they replaced the original drive with...

Just put the new head on '72 OMC 165

Actually it was a completely cleaned head and a NEW head gasket ... Okay, I got everything put back together and she'll start and run. According to the manual while everything gets established the engine may run rough (and it is), but there's also a knock or tick that I can't quite figure out...

I'm in the process of doing the head gasket (1st timer) and have got everything taken apart. Head is about to go to the shop to be machined (valves too) and I think THIS is the gasket set I need. Correct? Also - in that set are two gaskets that go under the rocker arm covers (if I've got it...
