    Whatever you’re looking at if it’s an older motor make sure certain critical parts are available. Like: Carb rebuild kits Ignition rebuild or tune up kits Ignition coil or magneto depending on the style of ignition. See what engines are available in your area then research parts supply.

    People do run those old engines basically till it wears out or apart fails that you can’t find for replacement.     I’m thinking a 4.3 V6 is minimum power for a 20’. An alu boat may be different due to lighter weight but a ‘glass boat no. I have a 4.3 in my 88 F/W and at 4200 lbs it’s just adequate.

    Mercruiser engines were pretty much always painted black, OMC used charcoal grey in that time period. Post up some pix of what you have.

    Agreed, I don't see the value in it, at that price point, due to the fact that you're using it maybe from May to Oct here. If you have an older boat that has a solid structure, repowering, replacing a drive etc makes much more sense.

    Yep I agree with all the responses about the likelihood of rot due to it being left open. I’d also question the seriousness of the seller about fixing it; anyone who knows wood/composite boats knows leaving them open to the weather is a death sentence. Be prepared for a complete gut & rebuild.

    “Fixed” A non functioning iPhone (got wet from sweat in my pocket doing a brake job when it was 100* out) by leaving it in my home A/C vent to dry it out. Worked fine & still does!

    I bought 2 37” Wise pontoon boat seats that fit in front of the hinged bulkhead. I notched the wood under the coaming panel & it’s a perfect fit.

    Here’s how I did it….the 2 pontoon benches drop in in front of the bulkhead. Usually when I winterize I only have to pull one seat out. When I replace the engine and add closed cooling & remote oil filter I won’t even have to do that either. Only if I have to change a starter or similar repair.
