    Removed pipe plug, and when cylinder was retracted it belched out some oil. Going to drill maybe a 1/16 hole in the plug for now. I see they make breather plugs and may change later. Also need to look into cylinder rebuild kit

    That is correct how timing is done using an advance timing light and not having a ECM. You may be able to do it with a ECM but I cannot say for sure. Your motor does have the connector it's just has not been found yet

    Kind of odd from them to fail that soon, they normally last for the life of the boat. A 3.0 just doesn't produce that much torque Does the alignment bar go in easy? Have you tried tightening the bolts 38 ft-lb?
