    1996 fast trac trim tilt

    Normally the fuse on the engine would kill both up and down trim, if blown. So either the up relay is bad, or the up circuit wiring is bad. Swapping the relays will ID that issue.

    Gee, most outboard motors can be hotwired with a clip lead from purple to red to run accessories, and another clip lead from red to yellow/red to crank starter. Choke to stop motor.

    Scott is incorrect, at least about outboards. 115HP OB is nominally a 5/16" fuel line. 3/8" for higher outboard HP. Not sure what HP needs a 1/2" fuel line, but it doesn't hurt any high HP motor to have easier fuel flow.

    If you have a built in fuel tank, why not just direct connect the fuel line to the motor? That will remove all restriction. 5/16" fuel connector is very inadequate for a 175HP motor.

    Newer 4 cycle motors have an electric fuel pump. You might wait a couple of seconds after turning the key on for the fuel system to pressurize. Your fuel system might be a positive ventilation type, like in modern autos. These only allow air in, not fuel vapor out. You would need to research it.

    Get a wiring diagram from each engine and compare the wiring to the switch. You can then verify what kind of switch you have. I would expect both motors to have a CDI type ignition, but am not sure of the exact wiring.

    The lock mechanism is usually a simple lever with a spring. The spring is usually inside the handle itself. Maybe item 13 or item 15 are the springs? hard to tell.
