mercrusier 350 MAG MPI coupler problem

I'm guessing that the yoke wouldn't bottom in the coupler to allow for engine/u-joint movement.

Mercruiser 5.0 dies while idling - no fuel from line

I don't know that the fuel line is still dry after the switch replacement? Sounds now like it's rich at idle, more like some crud in the needle/seat, incorrect float, incorrect mixture adjustment, choke not opening. OP, look down the throat of your carb at idle, see if it's dripping. Also make...

    1992 Glastron 1700G Question.

If the interior is beat, that would be a red flag for me. Your biggest concern is rot, everything else is relatively simple/easy/cheap to fix. A boat that has been left uncovered or in the water is much more likely to rot... Pay special attention to the area around the ski locker (see if it's...

    10 mph top speed

I mean, congratulations on that. I can't tell you how many ASE certified mechanics show up on this board and can't diagnose the simplest problems. If your boat is revving at 2k and 10 mph, and you think all is well, more power to you. This is an engine problem, unless you have a hull carrying...

First time boat owner with questions about 1998 Starcraft 1810 LX

They're definitely in the exhaust bellows. Would be a good assumption that the u joint bellows look similar.

'04 Merc 2 stroke went swimming

Left the boat beached with an incoming tide, wind picked up, 15-30 min later had a swamped boat. Managed to wrangle it to the ramp and winch it out after a lot of cursing. Motor didn't get submerged, but got good 'n wet. The water is brackish. I got the water out of the tank (very little) and...

First time boat owner with questions about 1998 Starcraft 1810 LX

I can see significant wear in the grooves of the exhaust bellows on the pics. The bellows need replacing even if not leaking yet. Or you can wait. But deferred maintenance in a boat is always way more expensive when it becomes a repair.

First time boat owner with questions about 1998 Starcraft 1810 LX

About $700. Your exhaust bellows looks suspect, can't see much of the u-joint bellows, which is where the water would enter. I'd pull the drive anyways to check u-joints, gimbal bearing, and alignment. You'll also be able to see if the inside of the bellows are wet (and then you'll need to...

    More U-joint knocking?

So had a (ahem) small issue with my u-joints last month when the clip fell off. At that time replaced just the drive side joint. The drive was new to me, and both joints were replaced prior to the start of the season. It's started clicking again, getting worse, though still only on fairly hard...

Replaced rubber impeller now won't shift to neutral??

Lower driveshaft splines not lined up with the upper. Try rotating the prop CCW as you lift the lower. Or you have bits of the lower driveshaft o-ring lodged somewhere in the upper housing (didn't see if you removed the o-ring/checked for old bits).

1993 mercruiser 4.3lx dies after a few minutes

Yes, that's possible. Did you check the contents of the filter when you changed it? Other causes already listed in post #2

Crank but want start Mercruiser 5.7

Dude, you're shotgunning everything. Do some of the troubleshooting, any of the troubleshooting steps outlined above (poor AD's about to have a fit that you haven't done the steps in #22). This won't be hard to solve if you just go in a logical order.

    2006 Chaparral 190SSi Mercruiser 5.0 has perplexing alarm/power loss

Didn't answer the other questions about setting timing and what ignition you have... But did you check temps at both the switch and the sensor with the IR thermo? Only thoughts I have about the temp might be to test what temp the switch closes in some hot water (again, I don't know what temp...

    Alignment help!

Unless you drilled holes in the transom, mount pads, and stringers, you have no idea if you have rot or not. And until you actually do that, everything else will be lipstick on a pig...

    Inconsistent Sparks

Did you set dwell also? Are you getting a nice blue spark on the working cylinders or is it yellow/weak? If you're getting a good spark from the coil and not from 1 cylinder, it's either the wire, cap, or rotor.

    2006 Chaparral 190SSi Mercruiser 5.0 has perplexing alarm/power loss

You verified the 170' at the sensor and the switch? What temp stat did you install? What ignition system do you have? I can't find a wiring diagram for a TB-V with knock sensor, but the normal TB-IV/V doesn't tie into the alarm at all. If a TB-V or other, the ignition needs to be put into base...

Crank but want start Mercruiser 5.7

There are (probably) 2 "kill switches". First is the neutral safety switch. The motor won't crank if that's tripped. Second is man overboard with a lanyard attached. You'll have your symptoms with this one being bad. Can test voltage on both sides of switch or jump the purple wires.
