old (unsure of year) Honda BF75 (7.5hp) outboard won't throttle in neutral or reverse

Hi, yes, I looked at it today. There is that little plate that blocks throttle movement when in neutral/reverse. On mine, when in neutral/reverse, the plate is completely up against the throttle control so there is zero play. I guess I can't figure out how to get any extra play? In neutral...

    Replacing/Repairing 1968 StarCraft Islander Bow Hatch/Hinges

Hello, I have a 1968 Starcraft Islander and the bow hatch is kind of messed up. It's a little dented and dinged up and the hinges are in bad bad shape. I'd like to replace the whole thing (hatch and hinges) but I don't know where to get a new hatch. Does anyone have a source for finding these...

old (unsure of year) Honda BF75 (7.5hp) outboard won't throttle in neutral or reverse

Thank you for all the replies. Can I just double-check one thing? Based on your replies, it sounds like (but I could be misinterpreting here) that I should be able to rev just a little in neutral and a little less in reverse. Mine can not rev AT ALL. The throttle does not move even a millimeter...

old (unsure of year) Honda BF75 (7.5hp) outboard won't throttle in neutral or reverse

Hello, I have an old Honda BF75 (7.5hp) Honda Outboard. It starts up great, run great, shift great, but will not rev up at all (throttle seems locked) when in neutral or in reverse. Is there something I'm doing wrong here, or is this normal? Any suggestions on what I should be looking for as...

hooking up 4stroke kicker to existing fuel tank (starcraft islander)

Thanks for all the responses. I already ordered a dual-outlet separator so I'll at least give that a try. But, quick question (similar to the question as above).... where does it go in the fuel system? I have a garbage separator now and then an inline filter and then a pressure regulator...

hooking up 4stroke kicker to existing fuel tank (starcraft islander)

interesting, thanks. Just curious, which water/fuel separator did you have? That seems.... not great. Ok, so it sounds like I need to decide between a dual-outlet filter, a switch system, or dual pickups, and all have their drawbacks and horror stories (except for the dual pickup, which I...

hooking up 4stroke kicker to existing fuel tank (starcraft islander)

I think for me the biggest question is still about how often things go wrong when you have an outboard hooked into the main fuel tank. If the worry is fuel contamination, but that only happens rarely, or if the other worry is sucking air in, but that risk can be eliminated/mitigated but using...

hooking up 4stroke kicker to existing fuel tank (starcraft islander)

@matt167 yes, I have a below-deck tank. Just storage under the seats, and no access hatch... bummer

hooking up 4stroke kicker to existing fuel tank (starcraft islander)

@Scott Danforth My islander does not have an access port. It's possible that it used to have one that was closed up by a previous owner, or it's also possible that mine just never had one (it's a 1968, I bet things were different back then). Given this, what would you recommend? I really doubt...

hooking up 4stroke kicker to existing fuel tank (starcraft islander)

How often does fuel contamination happen? If it’s fairly common, maybe a small external tank is the way to go. But if it’s more like a “worst case scenario” thing, I’d rather tie into my main fuel tank (if there’s a good way to do safely, like using a dual outlet fuel water seperator) and just...

hooking up 4stroke kicker to existing fuel tank (starcraft islander)

@Scott Danforth hm does a separated pickup mean I’d have to pull up floor to get to my tank? I’m not even sure my tank has a separate pickup, is there any solution that I can use with an existing line? What about those fuel/water separators that have dual outlets, would that solve the air problem?

hooking up 4stroke kicker to existing fuel tank (starcraft islander)

@matt167 thank you! I actually misremembered my setup. From the gas tank, in order, I have a water separator, and then an inline fuel filter, and then a pressure regulator. Photo attached. I bought a brass T-fitting, where in this line should the T fitting go to branch off to my outboard...

    I cannot find the right U bolts (1/2 x 4 x 3.5) anywhere

@roscoe that looks like it will work! I have no idea how you found that, I thought I scoured mcmaster-carr and did not see anything. Did you find it on their site or somewhere else? Thank you!!!

    I cannot find the right U bolts (1/2 x 4 x 3.5) anywhere

@dingbat that photo is helpful! Yours are going up and down, so they're really useful for bolting things that go on the top or bottom of the frame. I have these weird side bunks that get bolted to the SIDE of the frame, so I need bolts that go sideways on the frame. I can't find the exact...

    I cannot find the right U bolts (1/2 x 4 x 3.5) anywhere

@dingbat thanks! When you say 3" tubing size is not the actual dimension, do you mean that a 3" tubing size U-bolt is not actually 3", or that my trailer is not actually 3"? I have no idea what my trailer "tubing size" actually is, but it definitely measures almost exactly 3" across, so I would...

    I cannot find the right U bolts (1/2 x 4 x 3.5) anywhere

@dingbat Thanks. Unfortunately these won't work—The legs need to be greater than 3 inches, as my frame is 3" wide, and the holes in my mounting hardware are 4" (actually more like 4 1/16"), so that's why I noted that I need bolts that are 4" between the legs and at least 3.5" long or so. I'm...

hooking up 4stroke kicker to existing fuel tank (starcraft islander)

hello, I'm adding a kicker to my starcraft with a built in fuel tank and an I/O. My kicker is a 4 stroke with a pull start/tiller operated, so all it really needs is gas. I've read a bunch about how to hook up fuel to a kicker, but I just want to clarify a few things. 1) I read that you...
