    EST1 Open

Might want to try the trouble shooting tree in the service manual. If I remember correctly it will have you test for voltage and continuity in a few places. I’m going off of memory here. There are 3 revisions of the ECM 555 manual. At least one of them will have the reason as to why this code...

    Changing props

Yes, I've done it many times. Tie a rope to the wrench and your wrist so you don't drop it. And be careful about not losing the thrust washer.

    Water when pulling stern drive

This isn't correct. The big o-ring is the most important part in keeping the bellows dry. The paper gasket is secondary. As long as the water that came out of all 8 u-joint bearing wasn't rusty, you are probably ok. Same for the gimbal bearing.

    Is this a reasonable quote?

I don’t see a water intake hose in the quote. Suggest you do that while you’re in there. Price is about right. As I used to tell customers, just think of all the money you saved by not doing the yearly maintenance. If you factor that in, it’s only $2000 for this repair.

    Paragon to Velvet drive swap

If you mean the input shaft running in reverse --- yes. But it is using the forward clutch pack. You can't just put a RH prop on the end of the shaft and shift the trans into reverse like you can with a Hurth.

    Paragon to Velvet drive swap

This is not correct for Velvet Drives. they will burn up if you try to run one in reverse at high speeds. I think the biggest problem you will face is engine height. The flywheel forward engines were used to get the engine low in the bilge and keep shaft angle down. If you have to raise the...

VP 4.3 winterization simplification .... sorta

OH YA ---- so true. The procedure you described is how most quality shops do it since the low permeation fuel lines came out. They are almost impossible to get off without cutting them.

Volvo 300 CR V8 fuel pump problem

What was the vacuum at full throttle? Did you see any air bubbles in the clear line when preforming the test. It's not bad luck or bad fuel pumps --- you have something wrong. https://forums.iboats.com/threads/how-to-testing-your-boats-fuel-system.278642/

Volvo 300 CR V8 fuel pump problem

Check how much vacuum there is between the tank and pump while at full throttle. Should be less than 2”.

Volvo Penta Outboard Model 90 ( 9 hp ) Questions

Many years ago while working at a Volvo dealer, the owner took one of these in for repair. I called Volvo dealer support and they said there was no parts or literature available from them, but gave me 2 phone numbers to dealers that might still have parts. I called the one on the east coast and...

    V8-270-C-B Exhaust bellows (hose) replacement

Workshop Manual 47700210 is the correct exhaust manual supplement for your serial number. Volvo has "updated their website. I'm thinking there are a few bugs to get worked out.

    V8-270-C-B Exhaust bellows (hose) replacement

There should be a metal plate on the port side of the flywheel cover. It will be an inch or two below the bottom of the exhaust manifold. Your engine is a 5.7 block so when Volvo started adding catalyst to them they knew they would be switching to the Gen V blocks. So rather than writing a new...

    V8-270-C-B Exhaust bellows (hose) replacement

You didn't post a serial number so I can only take my best guess. Workshop Manual 47700210 is my best guess, it's a supplement to the engine manual and just covers catalytic exhaust manifolds. There are some more parts that need to be replaced, it's not just the gasket. Be very careful with...

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

Normally they are close. But one of the screen shots of Diacom you posted showed engine coolant temp 85° and EMWT 224°. So you will need to monitor where the problem is.

Water in Engine Oil 5.0 Liter MPI 2002

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

Yes, I would recommend that you hook up Diacom and watch the exhaust temperature and run at higher rpm if temperatures stay ok. Best to be in the water when doing this.

1997 carver 5.7 port engine removal

I haven’t done a 325, but have pulled a few engines in similar boats. Before trying to remove the rear window/door assembly you should check to see if a replacement is available. They are sometimes very difficult to remove without damage. Some Carvers I could remove the fly bridge and just...
