trying to install a pre-owned PTT to a1996 Johnson 50

You can just buy the handle trim assembly online or used. There's plenty out there or go to one on the dash. I've always gone with the throttle one though, safer and more effective.

Parts 5, 6 and 7 will give you "the glory" but like everyone says....you need nothing. Follow the yellow brick road and get what the scarecrow needed. 🤓

I'd say it's above like it's supposed to be. Step back and take another picture.

Water pressure valve replacement 2000 evinrude 4stroke

I'd leave it alone and test. Run some mild soap or something. Impeller yes, stats? No. I don't work on those motors but I've never seen a design where you don't have access to areas.

I throw a little dish soap in there but it's not necessary. Who wins? Are you eating crow or your buddies? 🤗

    67 Year Old Head Bolts

Me and two buddies are going to buy tw200 made by Yamaha. Quite a following. If you're referring to the net I just take a little screwdriver and hold on there while I probably inside otherwise you're probably talking about everybody's super Goo and again the crayons work the best in my humble...

    67 Year Old Head Bolts

I raced two stroke dirt bikes, YZ 400 was my last full on one ... We had the little cable clamps with the little WD-40 hole for the tube. Pulling outboard bolts has been fairly easy to me.. now... that I have failed many many times! 🤓

Yeah colored crayons discolor the paint for sure, I just use light or dark depending on the motor so white on white and the darker on the darker.

I use map gas and go forever....sometimes the original OMC paint doesn't even show much harm amazing stuff. Acetylene, map gas I've used them all. Map gas or an induction here is all you need that in a few crayons.

1977 70 hp johnson thermostat housing gasket

I pull my thermo stats out every year and soak them in salt away. Keeps everything nice but I'm saltchu.... I talk to myself all the time when I'm working on stuff....deeply into it. But I don't write to myself usually. Pretty intense stuff.

    67 Year Old Head Bolts

Corrosion and rust from age or abuse really. You have a tough project ahead of you. I purchased an inexpensive 120 volt stick welder just for removing said bolts. Stainless stick rod, stainless nut and I drop it in the middle and puddle it in. Takes some practice but works very well. Looking...

1977 70 hp johnson thermostat housing gasket

Kits typically are more than you need, and I'm speaking generically. Drop the stat is hot water with a thermometer and watch what it does...as far as the spring, testing outside of the outboard is more complex. Good luck with you motor.

Starts right up sometimes, but other times crank no start

Yeah, carbs, fuel pump....powerhead could be toast, I buy those around my place (Seattle area) $200, sometimes less. Take the time to do a few inexpensive diagnostics, so someone like me doesn't come along... and makes $$$$.00 Easy and not much time.

1977 70 hp johnson thermostat housing gasket

Really, just use common sense....old engine use older stuff, newer really clean motor, buy new stuff. If you buy "kits" everything is cheaper and you get extra parts. Comes in handy later. Single parts, nope. Simple really. I'm sure you can handle it, you seem to have knowledge but might not...
