    Gas fumes in cuddy

I changed the title. Though the autocorrect on that makes the boat sound so nice to be with :D

Boat shopping. Found an '00 Doral

OMC would be the harder one to get parts for. Volvo, not so bad. Merc is probably the easiest. Might be worth it to see if a marine tech in the area would be willing to look it over with you. Might cost ya' a couple hundred bucks, but help with the peace of mind.

    1978 Starcraft Holiday 18 I/O steering issue

You're looking for a piece that looks like this: ... or perhaps this: There should be a scale on the metal, and you can adjust the trim for the lower unit. Should be almost straight up from the propeller. I'm wondering since it happens when you're trimmed all the way down if the drive isn't...

Are there Owners/Repair manuals for Silverline?

Not much in terms of manuals from Silverline. You can read about the company and the boats HERE, HERE and HERE - that last one isn't maintained any longer, but there's some good information there. I had an early 70s Comoro, and really liked the boat. Good cruising boat. Regarding help on it...

Just thought I'd share a nice photo.

Drove to Atlanta yesterday. Got to catch my son during a layover as he is headed to Italy for duty with USAF. After hugging the stuffing outta' him, my daughter and I took the slow route back home to Tennessee. Stopped to catch a couple of photos. The first is coming off of Signal Mountain...

    Search for canvas

You would have to have the canvas made custom, and in the US that would cost about $3,000. It would be less expensive than over there, but still expensive.

How much water should come out?

You're not going to get a good read on the impeller from running it on the hose. The Stringer has to be submerged for the impeller to move water. If it's a new-to-you boat; change the impeller. If the impeller hasn't been changed in three years; change the impeller. Otherwise, put her in the...

    1978 Starcraft Holiday 18 I/O steering issue

That's tru-course on an OMC Stringer. I'll have to claim "know-nuthin'" status on that. The cables are available out there, but I don't know if they can be serviced or what kind of influences the drives have them. Some simple stuff would be to make sure your swivel is greased up, and maybe...

New to Forum / New Boat / Selecting the correct prop

Someone else will have to put their 2¢ in on that. I've never used anything but a 3 blade Aluminum. For general usage - including water sports - I don't personally think it matters that much. I never did competitive water sports, but got pretty decent on skis and knee boards. Most of my time...

New to Forum / New Boat / Selecting the correct prop

I would guess cruise for you to be in the mid 30s somewhere. My boat will hit a little over 40MPH, but the sweet spot for cruise comes in just around 32 or 33 (typical water conditions). Wake boarding is much more about going a little slower and kicking up a big wake ... more cutting than...

New to Forum / New Boat / Selecting the correct prop

If you're getting 40MPH on the boat speedo, I would be tempted to put it in the water and take a GPS reading. If you're getting between 40 and 45 on the GPS ... then I would say stay with the prop setup. Either fix the current or get a new one. That boat tested with the 350 MAG made it up to...

    1987 Stratos 179v

Generally if it's at the steering bezel it's to adjust the tension on the helm. Some remotes have the same type of tension adjust for the throttle. Got a photo?

    1st Boat/First Thread/First Everything lol. Need help

Most marinas that close at 5PM have 24 hour access to the slips. Maybe not to the ramp (though, ramp access at many here in TN is 24 hours), but there's usually a way for you to get on and off. Especially if there are houseboats and cruisers in the slips.

Stingray 234 outboard leaking at trim tab mounts

Manufacturer probably didn't install the trim tabs. They are "rigging" that was more likely put on at the dealer level. I'd get with the dealer as recommended.
