Power trim for Mercury 200 1983

As far as I remember Mercury OB's used those two hose, pump-in-boat style for just a few years. The earlier PTT pumps were 4 hoses (out of the control valve) to the PTT cylinders, and the later (and current) PTT units were mounted between the transom clamps. I do not know if the MerCruiser PTT...

What kind of oil should I use

If your oil specification is FC-W, like a lot of 4 cycle OBs, that is what you should use in the specified grade. Automotive multi-grade oil is not usually recommended.

Sterndrive engineering may sell a new replacement gearcase for your motor.

    Trim gauge not working

You might like to check the ohm range of the sender on the motor. That range seems too limited. Some of the Mercs did not have factory senders, so you might have a look at it.

Have a live mouse inside a interior wall. No insulation.

Gee, when I tore out the paneling in a house I just bought, I found about 6 dried mice bodies, suitable for Egyptian tombs. I was happy to get them out.

    Trim gauge not working

Gee, you might tell us the make of the motor. Trim senders are usually a variable resistor. As the motor trims, the resistance to ground changes. The trim gauge has basically the same movement as a fuel gauge. Trim gauges need power, ground and the sender wire. Tan is usually a warning...

Does anyone know what this plug is called ??

Gee, what does the parts list on crowleymarine call it?

    Evinrude or Suzuki

You did change the oil filter, when you changed the engine oil, right? Pump grease into the grease fittings and clean and grease the steering rod, if you have one. You rinsed the powerhead, right? Spray it with corrosion guard stuff.

Gas Pressure washer "turn off" instructions incorrect??

Gee, I do not use small engines very often or for long times. The only ones I have are 2 chainsaws and a pressure washer. Anyway, the chainsaws get whatever fuel I have laying around from the last use. The fuel is sealed in soda bottles for years, so it has to be good, right? I did clean...

Gas Pressure washer "turn off" instructions incorrect??

Gee, I put a short garden hose (washing machine hose) on the pump, stick a funnel into the upper end and dump in some windshield washer fluid. After it stops draining, I blow some compressed air into the hose, blowing out any water and fluid. I cover and store it outside.

Transom bolt pattern for older (1983) 50HP 4 cyl Mercury with power tilt and trim

Gee, how about some 1 or 1.5 inch lumber spacers to allow clearance for the cylinders. S/b under $10 I would think.

    96 Mariner Magnum 3, 150hp: Quick Help

Sorry, I do know understand your last post. As far as I know you, and a guess at your question, you need the flusher device to flush the motor. The cap on the engine oil reservoir is to refill it, if it is low. Not all motors had the in-boat reservoir, and sometimes the reservoir refill...

Transom bolt pattern for older (1983) 50HP 4 cyl Mercury with power tilt and trim

If you plan on a trip up a shallow river, you will need a way to trim the motor. My Jackplate was a 2 piece kind. Basically on each side, there was 2 aluminum angle irons bolted together. A bolt on each allowed for up/down adjustment. The width of the Jackplate allowed me to mount my '77...

    96 Mariner Magnum 3, 150hp: Quick Help

Gee, thread is still open. Merc V6 engines have an oil reservoir on the engine, and can also have one in the bilge. Engine crankcase pressure forces the bilge reservoir to refill the engine reservoir continuously. The engine oil reservoir is gravity feed to the oil pump. Low speed (<2000RPM)...

1996 Evinrude 115 fuel hose routing

Here is a parts list. I am not sure if the model is exactly the same but should be close. I am not sure if it will help though. I have a motor similar to yours, but unfortunately, I have never needed to work on the primer, and the boat is well covered for the winter. Hopefully someone has...

Transom bolt pattern for older (1983) 50HP 4 cyl Mercury with power tilt and trim

Your Merc and it's PTT system should use 6 3/8" bolts. One in each of the lower "arms" of the transom bracket and 2 on each PTT bracket. The bolt pattern is different from the BIA standard, but I was able to mount it to a Jackplate, with some new drilled holes. Remember, when trimmed, the PTT...

    Spinning reels

Gee, only my newest Ugly Stik has SS guides. I suppose all the other OEMs could have converted in the last 5 years or so, but my suite of fishing rods is older, and definitely do not have SS guides.

How do I drain my fuel line?

Two ways to do it. One is to remove the fitting at the motor end and pump the primer bulb. Second is to stick a small screwdriver into the motor end fitting and push the chrome ball back against it's spring. Now pump the primer. Be careful not to tear the rubber seal that touches the ball.

    Spinning reels

Ugly Stik rods and Penn reels are good quality. Penn reels has a nationwide chain of places to get parts, if you break something. I have never broken an Ugly Stik rod, unlike some Garcia's, Daiwa's and others. Newer Ugly Stiks have SS guides, which are nice here in salt water. Some years...
