    Trim pump question

Joe, unlike most PTT units, yours likely has the teflon seal, vs a rubber oring on the brass piston. The parts diagram shows it as item #10, piston seal. Also notice, that the cylinder liner is removeable and the piston unbolts from the trim rod. That is very useful when the piston seal is...

    Trim pump question

The Spanner tool is easy. I made one out of 3 bolts and two 6" pieces of angle iron. They are also avail on the internet for a few bucks. You need the dia of the holes to order the right one. The rebuild kit has the teflon seal and a bunch of orings and a wiper for the trim rod. The only...

    Need Help With Trim/Tilt Wiring

Another note. When you buy a replacement PTT motor for a 3 wire system, it often comes with a 2 wire PTT motor and a new wiring harness and relays. You may be able to buy the wiring harness separately. ARCO and Sierra are two of the more popular brands of replacement PTT motor.

    Trim pump question

I doubt filling the reservoir had any bearing on your PTT system. The reservoir is open to the air and self-bleeding. You should be using auto trans fluid or SAE 5W-30 motor oil, whatever the unit already has. The special tool is kinda like a funnel which has a small taper. It compresses the...

    Mercury Oil Injection

Fuel mix ratio is 50::1 on that motor. To delete the oiling system, remove the oil pump and then the drive shaft for the pump. You can reinstall the pump and loop the oil line or find a block off plate. Sack the oil injection warning module and idle stabilizer. Test the overheat alarm by...

    Trim pump question

That motor should have the PTT pump/reservoir in the boat. The vent screw has no impact on the PTT pressure. It should be a bit loose to let air in/out of the reservoir. When those systems leak down it can be the control valve or the piston seals in the PTT cylinders. Most often it is the...

    Challenging loading

There are two speed winches. The "low" gear makes it easy to load heavy boats. They are a lot cheaper than an electric winch.

    Seaswirl throttle removal

Put the throttle lever in near full reverse, and look for a slot in the throttle arm, at about the 8-9 'o'clock position. There should be an Allen set screw holding the throttle arm on.

    Power Tilt Conversion

I do not know what to suggest for your question #1. You would need a midsection with a newer PTT unit that still fits your powerhead. They may exist, who knows. As for Question #2: You need a single pole, double throw switch of about 5A, plus one or two solenoids. The PTT pump/reservoir...

So, my 2025 Bayliner VR5 200 hp 4.5L mercruiser STILL barely pulls me up

I think your boat is a tail dragger. You are not alone, as many are such. It gets worse for larger craft. A lot of boats up to 24 ft boats have SBC power. On those cruisers, you need to send everyone into the bow portion of the boat to get on plane. Once there the boat performs well...

    1979 9.8 Carb Bowl

I used something similar to seal the gaskets on my fuel tank sender. It seems to hold up. Hopefully you have the same luck. I am concerned about you not being able to find a carb bowl seal that works. Is it possible that you got some old stock (pre-etoh) when you bought the new gaskets? The...

So, my 2025 Bayliner VR5 200 hp 4.5L mercruiser STILL barely pulls me up

The advantage of hydraulic trim tabs is that if properly installed, when retracted, they are well above the transom/hull point and do not drag. When extended, they will really lift the transom. So, on an underpowered or tail heavy boat, tabs down for takeoff, then pull them up. If heavy seas...

So, my 2025 Bayliner VR5 200 hp 4.5L mercruiser STILL barely pulls me up

Get hydraulic trim tabs. That will solve your issue, much better than a whale tail.

    Power Tilt Conversion

You need this stuff, plus the pump/reservoir. The PTT brackets bolt to the upper shock support. The top of the brackets bolt to the top mount of the PTT cylinders. The lower shock mount bolts to the lower mount of the PTT cylinders...

    Gauges recommendation

SeaRay Gauges are normally made by a commercial gauge company. Sometimes they add the SR emblem to the gauge, but they are usually standard gauge lines. For my '88 SR, I was able to buy standard Teleflex (in those days) replacement gauges. They did not have the SR, but other than that...

    Evinrude Ocean Pro 175 issues

Gee, be really careful when spraying ether. Have a fire extinguisher handy, as it will likely catch on fire. Using a spray bottle of gas/oil is a lot safer. You probably want a water separating fuel filter mounted in the boat. The dinky strainer on the motor can fill up and restrict fuel...

    Water in the Lower Unit

It is not necessary to clean out the old lube. Just drain it well. Brake cleaner could harm the seals.
