    Ayuh,..... Then there should be a tygon tube from the pump's vent, to the top of the carb, or the flame arrester, to dump gas from a ruptured diaphragm, into the throat of the carb, not the vacuum port at the base,.....

    Ok, it appears to be bolted on, so,..... Unhook the wiring, remove the bolts, lay it down on cardboard or something, 'n secure it snuggly,.... It appears it can ride just forward of the windshield,....

    Ayuh,..... It would help if you answer our questions,.... What style coupler do you have now,..?? What size flywheel are you attempting to use on the replacement motor,..?? Is the block drilled for both starter patterns,..??

    Ayuh,.... True enough, but reusing the jets, needles, 'n springs from the Oem carb, would bring it back to spec,..... Unless corroded to crap, I'd just get a kit, 'n rebuild the Oem carb,..... Type in 1409 into the search box on the Edelbrock site to bring up the AFB bible,....

    Ayuh,..... That's a MercWeber 4bbl. which is an exact carbon copy of the Eldebrock 1409 carb,... Edlebrock parts are cheaper, 'n easier to get, so buy yer parts for the 1409,...

    Ayuh,.... I made my own, a 1/2" x 1/2" stainless cap screw, 2, 1/2" ss flat washers, 'n a fat 1/2" o-ring,.... I tack welded the extra flat washer perpendicular to the bolt head, so I can spin 'em out with my fingers,.... I use Quicksilver Perfect Seal for 'bout 99% of any sealant needs,.....

    Ayuh,...... Welcome Aboard,.... If yer looking for dependability, you outa go back with what it had, 'n maybe drop an eldebrock 1409 carb onto it,..... A new cam, 'n roller lifters won't make enough difference to feel it,.....
