    1973 Gibson houseboat oil cap

Some systems have a reservoir down in the engine room, it gets filled to a certian level and pumped up with air to keep the system full. I don't recall those having a filler at the helm stations though. If this system loses air or oil, you lose steering completely. If it does lose air or oil...

Steering. If it gets to low, you lose steering.

    Boat reverse polarity

I've personally seen similar stuff like that. One big one is the water heater. The element goes bad but still works as it's leaking a small amount of current. Even with the breaker off it shows the same. Unhook the wires completely from the heater itself and see if it clears up. If it does you...

    Do I need a trailer?

I used to throw mine on the roof of the car on a rack, But the trailer I aquired was a game changer! No more getting set up and retrieving.

    Going straight at low speed?

Under low idle, there isn’t much, Torque, besides the gimbal moves with th drive.

    Fender holders inside the console

Those generally attach to the bow rail on bigger boats. If you have a tall rail they will work fine.

    Going straight at low speed?

This is true, can’t tell you how many I’ve snugged up when they came in for service. If it’s left to long it ruins the ginble ring and you end up with an expensive repair.

Aluminum jon boat bench removal. Do or Don't?

No, don’t do it in my opinion. It’s part of the strength of the hull. On another note, I’ve been wondering why they call a v-hull a John boat? Around here a John boat has a flat bottom and square bow.

    Going straight at low speed?

Find a landmark, point straight at it, You will see it wander back and forth. Do not move the wheel. It will still go fairly straight, with small correction when needed. Drives me nuts to but its the nature of the beast.

Yeah, that was a hell of a ride! Last time I had a view like that was on a tilt-a-whirl! And not at close to 200 mph!

    Wild Finish at Daytona

I agr with the ads. Even when they go side by side, they should make the ads smaller than the race. I watched the whole thing but it’s not as good as the old school stuff. I like that the drivers are much safer than in the past but it’s still not the same.

Lexus Oil Leaks and Mechanic (Woes)

You did ask for just the valve cover gaskets. But I personally don’t think it’s a 950 dollar job. Some are a bugger to get to so take my comment with a grain of salt. Usually when I do a repair I clean up the motor and look for any thing else that could be an issue and inform the client what is...

Best way to secure pistol in truck?

Mine lives in my inside pocket of my winter jackets, in the summer it lives in a shoulder holster under my shirt. It’s with me always. Of course I have a cc license for those of you that are wondering.

marina says gimbal bearing was installed backwards?

Removing and installing a gimble isn't that hard. As far as testing the drive, usually I drain it, install the pressure tester and then proceed to do other work on the boat and taking a look at the tester when I can. It should not take 4 hours unless you run into problems. We also vacuum test...

    Flames up when starting

You pumped it 4 times. That is a fair amount of fuel. Probably slightly flooded it. The air filter is called a spark arrester. It's to help stop the flaming thing you had. If the hood was closed it makes a potential for blowing up! I've seen it happen. If any of mine don't start with one pump I...

I don’t blame the boat for wanting to tip over! I’ve never seen anything like that!
