    That tells you your thermostats are working. Get an infared gun to double check the actual temps. The switch should be in the head itself If I remeber right. Dukedog or Fatzbullet will be much more help on that.

    If that is a 2.5 , the tell tales do not fully flow until the thermostat opens. I believe those have 140 degree thermostat so yes toasty water comes out. Not all Motors plumb the tell tales that way. That is kind of a Unique feature to some Mercury 2 strks.

    That is a false reading, they came factory with around 130psi. Let it sit overnite and re-do the compression test.

    So if it is the newer 2.5 litre your tell tales will be warm/hot as they are connected to the Thermostats.

    Was the old impeller in 1 piece? did you check the sensor itself? Do you know if that is a 2.5 litre? If not somebody here might know.

    How do you know where the bearing is bad? A bad pinion bearing will cause the problems you are having. If you remove the lower unit and the hard spot stays , you will know the problem is in the powerhead. Either way something in that motor/lower unit needs to come apart.

    You realize you don't need to hit anything for a lower unit to go bad right? Many a bearing goes bad without hitting anything.

    You adjust the idle by adjusting the low speed timing.

    You need a new primer diaphragm. Wouldn't hurt to rebuild the whole carb.

    The water out of the holes will warm. It takes a wide open run with the correct thermostat to get above warm. Especially in cold water. How do you know the thermostat is not installed?

    Check your shift interrupter switch. You need to do a dva test and test the stator. should easily jump a 7/16" gap

    2 different carb covers for those motors, 1 is cheap and 1is not. And I do not believe the needles are interchangeable. There is also an update kit that comes with both needles. The kit is pricey 0433973
