    71/72 105hp Propeller Clearance Issue

Did the "new" LU come without the exhaust snout and you put the one from you cracked LU on it? I know there were two different snouts and the later LU from mid 70:es hade a snout which was shorter and had a steeper shape. When I check in my parts catalogs there are different part numbers...

Bman2895 have you pull the flywheel and check the points, cleaned them and set the gap and looked at the coils?

New to me 18 hp Evinrude.

Checking for good spark you need to se if it can jump 3/8 in or more in atmosphere. Checking for good spark with the spark plugs is not good enough. Then as Crosby says pull the flywheel and check. The coils at those old OMC are know as dry out over the years. If good coils then clean the points...

    Attempting a motor rebuild

Captndrydock source for parts for your rebuilt is Franz Marine service. He might not have the Wiseco pistons if you have to change pistons. Franz was a dealer back in the days and now he is 80++ and want to sell out all and retire. He has or can give you advise where to find parts for your...

1980 9.9 hp Chrysler no spark-need some advice

tmcook this thread is 16 years old. Start a new thread about you issue. BTW The prime side of the ignition coil should read about 1-3 Ohm. Secondary side about 6-8 kOhm. No spark issue are often dirty points, clean and set them at 020 in. Also check the spring in the HT rubber boots for rust.

My flywheel came apart at the bottom where some metal blades are stacked together any idea why?

In my opinion you should be able to use the CDI stator with different triggers which are for Prestolite CD-modules. The trigger sends signal to the CD-modules to discharge the capacitor voltage to right ignition coil. The stator charge the capacitors in the CD-modules. The stator and the trigger...

    Force 40 issues

When you rebuilt the LU did you changed any parts in it? These LU do not have any shim at either prop shaft or drive shaft. But there are two thrust washers at the prop shaft. One at each gear in front of clutch dog between the gear and the prop shaft. Are they in the right place now? If you...

1990 Force 120HP no spark NEW stator tests 0.5V between sets open resistance this is crazy HELP

That inner magnet/laminated core for the triggers does not looks good. You have to fix that otherwise it will chew up the trigger assembly again. Best is to change the flywheel, in my opinion hard to fix that magnet/laminated core in that flywheel.

    1979 80HP Mercury

When you are in the lake (water) you have back pressure from the water to the exhaust. On muffs.......no. As jimmbo and racerone says, check the compression and check for spark at all cylinders.

    Force 125

Your engine is a 1984 year model. The allen screw is the drain screw and the went/level screw at the starboard side just above the cavitation plate (flat screw). The "no no screw" whitch is the swiwel for the fork that change the gear is at the starboard side at the gear case bullet. Unhook the...

Do you give it a little bit throttle (pull the knob and give some throttle) when staring it warm or just idle?

1991 150B force outboard no spark

Do you have Prestolite ignition system with three blue or black CD modules? Or do you have Mercury Thunderbolt system with one switch box? Normally the CD modules or switch boxes can not be tested from resistance with a VOM. You test for voltage from the stator and triggers to the CD...

    Force 40 issues

Not really hard to pull apart. Just to be careful when pulling the propeller shaft cover. Make a puller for it, do not twist the cover to try to turn the cover a bit and try to pry the cover off with a screw driver at the mounting tabs. Really large risk you brake the tabs.

As you describes and I can not feel and se you engine it sounds like the edges at the clutch dog and/or the gear is worn. BUT hard to give a good advice.

Electronic distributor made a buzzing sound

Yes that maybe is possible. I also do not know if the triggering of the CD box is when the photo diod in the preamp goes from covered to uncovered from the disc or from uncovered to covered by the window. The troubleshooting says if I do not remember wrong to use a credit card to simulate the...

Electronic distributor made a buzzing sound

But, but there is no points in the distributor as it has the preamp. The electronic distributor has a disc with 3 windows in your case as it i s a 3- cylinder engine. The disc is running through the preamp and the photo electric diod in the preamp is "reading" the windows and trigger the CD box...
