    Try looking for a local machine shop to mic the bores and be sure they are within spec. If they are not round new rings will not seal and could break as well. You mentioned there is still crosshatch so you might be fine but better safe than sorry. Jmo

    Maybe is was the “and boxing” part of your post. That could be considered some form of profit. Like the adds on tv that say free shipping just pay handling. That can sometimes be more than the product you’re purchasing. Could be wrong it’s just a guess.

    If it’s not right maybe take it back to the prop shop and confirm that. Sadly I have purchased stuff that was junk right out of the box. Poor quality control does exist maybe you got a bum prop.

    They make grinding wheels now just for aluminum. They have oil in them to help from loading up. A good scrub with acetone with remove the oils.

    I’m on board for a proper weld job. I have used similar rods in the past and they worked well but I feel like without penetration of the parent material even the slightest bump will likely leave you back to square one.

    Diffs have vents do they not? Any good mechanic would pressure test a LU for diagnostic purposes and to confirm a thorough reseal job. Jmo
