    A 1988 is surely a screwed up DIY carburetor rebuild. Like leaving OUT those tiny gaskets under different threaded brass tubes. Or O rings on mixture needles. Or drilling out those tiny Lead plugs in some of the fuel passages. And unable to correctly replace them.

    On 2 or more engines in a boat ? It is common for only 1 engine to have a alternator AND a Power Steering Pump. They run just fine that way.

    Be sure to use a oil That is Designed for flat tappets sliding on the cam surfaces. I can not recall the special additive / type of oil grade.

    Sadly a lot of motors will suddenly be for sale.

    Pay a GOOD mechanic to go with you to check out any " great bargain ". The odds against finding a good one. 1 out of 50 thousand. Do not buy used or dealer new. They have flooded new motors to sell also. Life can be very cruel sometimes. Good luck to everyone.

    Will not pee

    Water MUST MUST be way above the Cavitation Plate. I would use 8 to 10" above it. Did you accidently trim the motor up too high ? The impellor may be slightly worn if run long enough. You may have been sold the wrong impellor.
