    I'd imagine that the shaft that the handle is connected to is what got bent but I could be wrong. Handle looks like cast aluminum so it won't bend just break. Pull the handle and look at the shaft.

    And I believe the rubber gasket on the cowling is what got rubbed off so fixing it with fiberglass is not appropriate.

    I would stick to your Merc oil.

    Continuous should be overheat.... Maybe your sensor is going bad. Have an IR gun? If so shoot the heads when it starts going off.

    Remove it see what it looks like. If clean drop it in some boiling water with a temp gauge.

    I'd stick with the vro. Runs better/cleaner and is less of a hassle. If it's a concern replace the pump.

    Gearcase part numbers are different on each motor so I would guess it's a no.

    I see. Not sure that your heated pipe will shrink enough. You could maybe use PEX A pipe and a expansion tool like plumbers use. Not sure of your dimension though.

    1977 Johnson 35hp neutral cut out switch question.

    Replaced the rubber line previously discussed and the other one that goes from the bottom intake to the starboard side of the block near the back. Both were old and cracked. Pretty sure those wouldn't make smoke though. What else could make smoke can me out down there....bad lower block gasket...
