    1991 mercury 115hp 4cyl 2 cycle outboard

Except for that plastic fuel line, and the old attempt to tap into the PTT wires, it looks OK. Clear plastic fuel line, usually fails pretty quickly, depending on what it is made of. Those blue splice devices, weaken the wire and allow corrosion under the insulation. You can get Y shaped...

    1991 mercury 115hp 2 stroke gauges?

You want to make sure the gauges will work with your motor. Speedos, water pressure and fuel gauges are universal. The tachometer is really the only gauge that is engine specific, and recent gauges are also universal, but it is wise to check.

    1991 mercury 115hp 2 stroke gauges?

You need to search on outboard gauges. Faria and Seastar are some of the brands. You can buy sets of them. I would recommend a tachometer, water pressure gauge, fuel level gauge. and speedometer. A water temp gauge is usually unnecessary on an outboard, because of it's open cooling system loop.

    1973 Mercury 115 2 stroke engine questions

That motor is a really good one. It will really make it happen with a fast/light boat. It is OK with a heavier boat as well BTW, SAE 5W-30 motor oil was used in those PTT units.. I would advise that you see what you have and continue using it.

    1973 Mercury 115 2 stroke engine questions

The lower cowl only comes off it you pull the powerhead. Buy some gasket sets for the carbs and some inlet needles and seats and floats... Say $40, clean the carbs, including the idle restrictor and idle passages.

Does the switch box impact the rev limiter?

Gee, if the RPMs exceed redline, a prop with more pitch may be in order. It can improve fuel economy and maybe top speed.

Blown 20A Fuse on Mercruiser 5.0

A lot of times the power wire from the battery switch will run the bilge pump. It is connected to the battery switch, so you cannot turn it off, however, 20A is a lot of power for most recreational boat's bilge pumps. Is the power on when the battery switch is off? That could narrow it...

Does the switch box impact the rev limiter?

Gee, worse comes to worse, be your own rev limiter, and D/C that black box.

Blown 20A Fuse on Mercruiser 5.0

That should not happen normally, IMO. It points to a serious electrical short. I expect the situation will get worse, and that fuse or more fuses will blow when you least expect it, or at a dangerous time. Be prepared to toss the hook, when it happens, so you do not drift into some hazards...

1980’s 90hp Tower of Power No Start

The max rules website should have a wiring diagram for your motor. Good floats and clean carbs are a must, for the motor to run properly. Usually you replace gaskets, inlet needle and seat, and floats when cleaning the carbs. Don't forget to clean the idle restrictor tube, idle passages and...

1980’s 90hp Tower of Power No Start

Why not check the compression and see if you have spark on all 6 cylinders? If the compression is bad, nothing else you do will fix it. If she is not sparking on all cylinders, nothing else you do will help it to run better.

    1991 mariner 175hp carb engine

Set primary pickup to 0-9*ATDC, and max spark advance to 21*BTDC. Those are standard for V6 carb Mercs.

    1973 Mercury 115 2 stroke engine questions

The switchbox needs power on the red and adjacent white wires to provide spark. Red is always hot and the white is given power when the ign key is on or start. The wires on the distributor are often bad. You might check them.

    Power trim

Gee, you might tell us what motor you are talking about. $3000 would be a total replacement of the PTT unit, I would think.

    1973 Mercury 115 2 stroke engine questions

You can easily jumper the ign on that motor. However, the ign components are real expensive, so one does not want to mess it up. As was said, Merc Dealers had maybe 12 keys for all the OB motors. If you can drag the boat to a dealer, a key could be had in a minute or two, unless the key...

    Faulty heat gauge or ? 1988 V135

The thermostats on that motor open at 143*F. The motor should run at idle somewhere around that temp. However, above idle the poppit valve takes over. It dumps water out the exhaust at 2000RPM or so, as water pressure dictates. A temp gauge is not real accurate for those motors. A water...

1988 V135 Reeves timing method vs the Merc book?

I would use Merc timing method on Merc's. Normally that motor would have a 0-9*ATDC at idle pickup, and a 21* BTDC for max spark advance. It can be checked while cranking the engine, spark plugs 2-6 removed. This check is pretty easy....

Gas Tank Capacity for 1992 Cobia Monte Carlo?

The fuel tank would normally have a sticker with it's capacity. Check for a hatch which exposes the fuel gauge sender. Alternatively, try to find it on the website of the OEM.

    Bewildered

Generally speaking, the outboard wiring is separate from the boat wiring. The motor wiring will be self contained in the boat harness from the motor to the control/keyswitch. I would recommend that that be restored to original. Dashboard wiring should be a fuse on a heavy wire from the...

93 mariner wont rev above 4000 replacing of bunch of spark components

Gee, how about a compresion check? Also, examine the spark plug color. A clean spark plug can indicate water intrusion, which puts out the fire of combustion. How have you verified that it is running on all cylinders?
