    You are asking a lot of a 5 liter on a 21 ft boat. It is not known for torque, and the Higher HP versions of the 5 Liter are even weaker in the Torque department.     Ball Hones are not good for 2 stokes, they can cause issues with the Ports. Same goes for Chamfering the Ports, doing so can make changes to the Port Timing, as well as cause other Damage

    The 9.9, when it came out in 74, was probably putting out about 11 1/2 - 12 Hp, while the 15 was probably close to 15

    I remember when it was J6J, and Chumpion has made some changes to how they scale the Plugs. I always preferred AC DelcoM4C as our Plug of choice. The 5 1/5, later becoming the 6hp, had a Thermostat, and was speced with J6J

    Keep an eye on those 'Hotter Plugs', they could end up causing Detonation, as they won't shed Heat as well as the specified plug would When resealing the Lower Unit, don't forget about the Shift Shaft Seal, and the Washers under the Drain and Vent Screws
