1979 Evinrude 55 hp 55975C alarm horn from the controls..

Tell tale only means it's pumping motor can still overheat. Could be stat, could be plugged passage ways, could be bad sensor. Easiest way is shoot the head with a thermal gun.

Yamaha C60 knocking noise at higher revs

Did you run it without the cowl? Check to see if anything is hitting the flywheel. Otherwise I guess I would pull the gearcase and see if anything looks wrong with the pump or shift linkage. What does it do at WOT?

1996 - Johnson Outboard - Difficulties Starting But Runs Great

909, the owner states in post #1 that the engine runs great and in post "3 that idles beautifully and runs smooth with no hiccups. He just has trouble starting it. My guess is his settings are incorrect or something is wrong with his choke.

1996 - Johnson Outboard - Difficulties Starting But Runs Great

I thought 15 but he did not say it was knor is there a picture of his hp. I did see the year and I looked under that. I saw an electric primer but his looks like a tiller...maybe. I see no helm. Having the entire model number would make it all a whole lot easier. Omc only had the manual primer...

1996 - Johnson Outboard - Difficulties Starting But Runs Great

First of all always post model numbers. What is hp on the one? Being a first time boat owner,(not trying to be disrespectful) do you know the difference between a choke and a primer? Each one is different in how you use them. I find new boat owners don't know how to start 2 strokes and it's not...

johnson 70hp 2 stroke 1995 shut down when warm

Well, I'm in Seattle so we are practically neighbors. You can pick up those 70 hp 2 Strokes around pretty cheap (much cheaper than what you list) because most people want the 4 strokes. Problem is you never know what your getting. If it doesn't have much or any salt damage then have at it...

johnson 70hp 2 stroke 1995 shut down when warm

Well good for you. Glad to see some young folk wanting to rebuild stuff even when it doesn't make financial sense. Remember to go through the gearcase to though because it can be just as expensive as the powerhead when not properly maintained. Racerone, post 47. Follow those guidelines.

    1995 Evinrude E40ELEO RPMs

With that year and horse power they would want you to be between 5000 and 5500 rpm's. Not 6000. Calling vdo is probably best.

johnson 70hp 2 stroke 1995 shut down when warm

Your the Canadian with the blown engine right? Or did the a second compression test, test out better? Flywheels get a little stuck but tighten the main puller bolt and than tap with a hammer... It will pop like Tp says.

1985 evinrude 30 hp prop power issue

If it died while hand choking then that means it's most likely not a fuel problem. Is carb valves opening fully?

Number 85 is your fuse on your main wiring harness.

    1995 Evinrude E40ELEO RPMs

I know you said that already. Motor should idle, warmed up and in the water....in gear, at 650 to 700 rpm's. Cold not in gear? 1000 wouldn't surprise me. Now 7000 at WOT? That's way off unless your prop is junk. You will need to get it back in the water to test correctly and may need to adjust...
