    Quit on the Water!

I think I would put it back together and do a spark JUMP test. Not spark, but determine that you have a good spark. Pretty sure others will say "your had a 3/8 jump. Then run it until you have the condition again (no running) and then check for GOOD spark. If you have good spark then you can...

Won't run right once warmed up.

I see, well it's not the check valve then. Seems like a flooding issue I'm sure you will get some more opinions soon.

Won't run right once warmed up.

There are others here that have more experience working on them and I'm sure they will give there input but I had friends with similar instances with their VRO rudes. It's been a while but I think there is a check valve in the oiling system that goes bad and brings those results. Remove the oil...

    Quit on the Water!

Should be called pickup coils. Obviously you can't tell by looking. You will have to perform tests.

    1999 90hp FICHT~Premix Conversion?

I see the lift pump is at least available....$300 something apiece. Oil injector unit $900 something....fuel pump not available. The $64,000 question, when do you cut and run.

    1999 90hp FICHT~Premix Conversion?

Ficht motors had many issues as you probably know by now. On the vro pumps the oil light lit up for low oil or low pressure. I think I would believe your mechanic, I find most mechanics are good people and are just telling you what it is. I know it's frustrating sometimes. My advice, and you...

    Looking for guidance please

You were correct to pull apart the carb because more time than not people store them with gas and the varnish up. It could be running hot from a bad cooling pump and vapor locking but who knows. Was the engine stored for awhile? Was water coming out of the pee hole? If not that, start with...

    Ethanol Gas Observations

Leaking fuel in a boat is certainly a potential dangerous situation.... environmentally has it's repercussions as well. Luckily nothing happened but it's a good lesson learned for everyone out there. Stay safe.

Not sure anyone can answer that question really but more knowledge of things is always good. If your using it in the ocean, stay close to land. Happy boating.

    OMC and Johnson powerhead question

Oh shoot, sorry to hear that. Life throws curve balls and when stuff like that happens it effects everyone. My advice, get another boat (without or a blown motor) put that 140 on it and whenever you go full tilt remember and salut your Dad or modify the other boat to accept the old engine. With...

    OMC and Johnson powerhead question

That was always the problem with those sea drives once you got one you were stuck with it. One question I have, why do you call a 1995 outboard a "brand new one".? I'm sure somebody here will be able to tell you if that'll cross but not me.
