    Depends on where you live. Locally it’s almost unheard of although they switched over to using brine on the roads a couple of years back. Have to wait and see Head over to the coast and everything rusts. Seen rotors rust over night. Ate the rockers and chassis of my 2001 Tahoe big time.

    You know octane is a combustion inhibitor right? It’s less flammable than 87 octane. It buys you nothing with an outboard but a empty wallet. Might want to do a bit of reading on the rest of your topics. Most are old wives tales and snake oil salesmen pitches

    Fuel problem

    I suspect either your fuel pump rebuild didn’t go so well, you have a leak in the fuel delivery system (hose) or you have a bad crank seal. My money is on the fuel pump rebuild.

    Average morning..........burn 20 - 25 gallons in the boat and another 15 gallons in the truck going too and from. Running offshore is an easy 100 gallon a day and 25 gallons in the truck Time to go back to accepting "donations" from guests again.

    And as you noted above, their assembly practices are not quite up to par....lol To be fair, that seam would suffice on most vertical surfaces except when exposed to direct spray or runoff.

    I know you don’t want to hear it, especially from me….but It’s made wrong. The “glass” is supposed to be is sewn on the “outside” of the material/enclosure then framed (sandwiched) with a second layer of fabric to cover the glass and strengthen the seam.     Thought I had one out in the shop to show you what happens to them in salt They get “sand blasted” in no time but it’s the piece of shell imbedded in the impeller that tears cups up pretty bad. Well past the finger nail test

    Do yourself a favor and replace the pump based on performance, not time. Change the pump and housing the first time to get a base line pressure reading. Make note and compare to the pressure specification noted in the manual. In my case, a new impeller and housing runs 2-3 psi above idle...
