    the seloc manual is riddled with improper and wrong information. Volvo Penta has had electronic ignition on the V6's since the 80's your 1997 should have the Delco EST dizzy get the correct manual. https://www.volvopenta.com/en-us/your-engine/manuals-and-handbooks/

    the oildyne 108 is usually set up for 2900-3000 psi to raise (as it has to fight the prop thrust) and only about 900-1500 psi to lower (as gravity and prop thrust help)

    welcome aboard. for a 1997, there should be electronic ignition. are you looking at a factory manual? because 8 volts is for a points ignition You are also posting in the OMC forum. will move to the VP forum.

    if the motor is healthy (check the compression), and if the pontoon is rated for it. you should be able to bolt it on. however, if the boat is not rated for it, the motor will tear the transom off the pontoon. you also wont go much faster unless the boat has lifting strakes.

    You should be pulling the drive every year to inspect the alignment, U-joints and bellows. Bellows should be replaced every 3-5 years Suggest getting a factory service manual

    Put 3 cases of beer on the back. That is how much lower the motor will sit with an iron headed 5.7 with iron manifolds than your 4.3
