    It's bolted and caulked down. Reach under the gunwale, unplug the tower, unbolt the tower. Or because the tower is designed to be below DOT limit and the gunwale is beafed up with al aluminum plate in the cap. The boat and tower are structurally secure (as it's a tow tower). Just leave it up

    There are test procedures in the manual If I owned a 470, I would be tempted to take a $30 40 amp gas powered welder regulator and mount it to a water cooling plate to replace the NLA water cooled regulator

    word of caution is any fiberglass boat under $10k should be considered a project boat unless proven not. just spend a few hours looking at the restoration forum. however once you restore the hull, it will last at least as long as it did prior, which is 31 years.
