    Check the SHIFT SWITCH on the motor linkages.----Motor may be running on 3 cylinders.-----And a GOLDEN RULE with these motors is that carburetors must be confirmed clean.----No guessing here.-----A restricted carburetor means less fuel and less oil going in.----Damage to pistons may occur.

    Agreed-----Condition of engine is to be determined first.-----Post the numbers.-----Or remove bypass covers to inspect pistons / rings.-------Could be numerous other issues as well.

    Nope----The propshaft seal changed in 67.-----One part 303345 listed for 66 models.-----Two # listed for 67 ---303345 and 313282.-----Only 313282 listed for 68 models.

    There appears to be a flushing plug on the exhaust cover.------The tell tale comes off the exhaust cover.----Thermostat has nothing to do with the tell tale.

    Nope----Needs 50:1 at 5000 RPM------Oil and lubrication in 2 strokes is not well understood !

    It is not really a choke.-----It is a primer pump and is spring loaded.-----Ageed you can make any knob to replace lost one.

    The 100:1 mix was a factory blunder / mistake .----Do a compression test on it.--Post the numbers.--Make sure lanyard clip is installed and working properly.----Run at 50:1 on it now.

    Sounds like you did good with connecting rod bolts and rod caps.

    Simple -----Remove a bypass cover.-----Measure and post what diameter the intake ports are.------Remove a high speed jet and post the number off it.

    We used to replace the wee o-ring in the fitting.-----Today folks just go out and buy a new hose / bulb assembly.-----Spend $50 instead of $1.00.

    Charge the battery and have it load tested.-----Take starter apart for inspection and ohm test on armature.----No $$$ spent to do that.---Have to ask.-----You are pushing the key in and holding it in while cranking ?

    In 1964 OMC offered a 90 HP V-4.----And that was quite a simple good reliable motor.-----And Mercury offered a " Tower of Power " in 1962 at 100 HP.
