    I my opinion those compression numbers will not keep it from actually " running "-----Those compression numbers and slight scoring indicate to me that it will not run / idle well.----But some folks can only say ---" It runs so there is not much wrong "-----Sorry just my opinion here.

    Well----That might help you see and understand this simple procedure.----Might help on re-assembly.-----Do not turn the shift rod during this repair procedure.

    Stand on the starboard side of the motor.----Find the L-shaped shift lever below the bottom carburetor.-----Remove hitch pin on that shaft.-----Now push that shaft to the port side of the motor.----Rotate that shaft and shift rod is now disconnected.

    It should start with the electric primer activated during cranking.----It works by spraying fuel in there just the same as you spraying carb cleaner in there.----So test operation of the primer valve.------Load test your battery and take starter apart for inspection.

    I think you need more water in your test bucket.-----And run it at night to look for a spark.

    Might have a seal ring failing on crankshaft.-----Difficult for a novice to diagnose.-----Are you pushing the key in and holding it in while cranking for cold start ??

    Find the bare wire that is causing a spark.-----Repair the fuel leakage.

    You must know that these V-4 crossflow engines are famous for broken rings.---Post the compression numbers.---Easy and no beer tokens needed to do that.----And make sure there is strong spark ( 3/8" gap ) on the 4 leads.

    If primer valve stays open motor will flood with fuel.-----Pinch off fuel supply to primer as a test.----Replace the ignition key.
