    Step #1 is to make sure that locating surface is absolutely clean.-----Repair parts are a kit from Amazon / China ??----I know of a shop that simply uses new hub with bearings already installed.----Saves labor and ensures a top quality repair.

    I have never had an issue removing a bypass cover.----Screwdriver in between the 2 covers and the one with no bolts pops off.

    Only the maximum timing advance is set !-----Idle timing is the point where throttle plates OPEN.-----Actual ignition timing at smooth idle does not matter and looks after itself.-----Or hurry to a shop that can correctly set this up.

    ????----There are 4 bypass covers.----Each held by 6 screws 1/4 -20NC threads.----I say you need 4 new O/S pistons and rings.----That will give you real performance again.

    With the primer valve open the bulb on the hose will not go hard.----It is working as intended !!----And the bulb on the hose does not stay hard once motor is running either !

    That was 20 years ago.----It was likely resolved and poster is no longer active.-----Start a new thread.-----Include all information you know and how the whisling started.----It could be due to no oil in gasoline or water pump failure !

    The primer valve puts fuel directly into the engine.----That fuel does not go into the carburetor bowls or through the metering circuits.---With the red lever in the wrong position motor will flood with fuel when running.

    The ----J90TSLECM---Is shown in the parts book as having a water cooled rectifier / regulator part # 585195.-----But who knows what is installed now.
