    Do not use any RTV type sealer anywhere on that motor.----Use BRP gelseal on crankcase to block ---metal to metal ----joint.

    Agreed with above.-----Sounds like not enough pressure in the tank.-----Cap on tank has to be closed.

    Garden tractor battery will do the trick.-----Motor in good condition will start in just seconds.

    ???----We have all heard of carburetor icing have we not ?-----When a liquid vaporizes it seeks / needs heat.----Refrigeration principle from long ago.-----So the carburetor cools down and moisture from the air condenses in the carburetor.-----Shows as a white milky fluid !!

    Used for ease of assembly only.----Water is the lubricant for impellers.

    Water in it would be the only issue.----Oil spilled would be a huge issue.------Make sure it was stored dry and use it.-----Age of the glass is not an issue.

    On a 2 stroke ( even in good condition ) some gas and oil goes right through the motor.----It is wasted and that is what collects in the exhaust housing.

    It is an---Action Marine 17 with a 25" transom.-----Look it up on you tube.-------Rated for 150 HP and some running with 200 HP.-----Yes it is a small " go fast " boat.

    Yes on a motor in good condition there is clearance between cam and roller.----If throttle opens too soon , motor will stall.----They call it " throttle pick up timing " for a reason.----This concept has baffled folks for ages !!

    All normal.-----You can not overfill a gearcase.----Those are casting cavity drain holes and normal to see that oil / sludge leaking after running in a barrel.-----In my opinion the oil / lubrication in a 2 stroke is a mystery to many folks.

    I picked 2 of these motors , one to use and one spare ( dealer trade ins ) a few years ago.----Weight of them was a huge factor for my 17' boat.-----At an affordable price.------No way that I can spring for a new 4 stroke.-----Hopefully they run as designed , nice and smooth.

    Sorry----I can not see your control box , or see how it operates.---What part # new cable did you install.-----Is the shift rod height correctly set ?-----??--Dog gear in the control box , no idea what that item is.----And I have looked at lots of those control boxes.
