    The pumps operate on crankcase PRESSURE and most pumps have no trouble pulling fuel up 4 feet.-----Fix any and all leaks including inside the tank.

    Gear position does NOT matter.----You just need room to work .----Line up the notch before you put the bolt in.

    Compression test.-----These had a rather poor quality head gasket.----Sierra replacement is improved and the best deal.----Does spark jump a gap of 1/4 " ( 6 mm ) or more.

    33 hp Johnson no spark

    Pull the flywheel with a puller using the 3 threaded holes.----Bolts are to be 1/4-20NC thread.--------You will find 2 old cracked coils.----Or new replacements already there if it was a recent runner.----If there are new replacements just clean breaker points and check for spark.

    ---Those used an optional belt driven 10 amp DC generator.-----Mounted just like the starter motor.-----Voltage regulator inside the boat.

    Here is what I would do.------Find a newer donor motor with power trim tilt.-----1978 to 1988 model 3 cylinder.----Swap your gearcase and power head onto the mid section.-----Must be the 49 cubic inch 3 cylinder.

    Model # is ?----There might be a shift switch on the motor linkages.----It kills spark to 3 cylinders at times.------Perhaps it is sticky.

    A 2000 watt generator will do.-----But you might be surprised by how much gasoline it will use overnight.-----Many items plug into a 110 volt supply.-----Some items draw more amps ( power ) than others.
