    Are muffs available for 1959 5.5HP Golden Jubilee?

    Find that plate on the side of the lower unit.-----Find the main water intake screen behind the prop.----Make and adapter for that plate for muffs or a garden hose fitting.-----Block main intake with tape.-----Test run.-----Don't forget to remove tape.

    There should be a small black wire from small solenoid terminal to ground.--I can not see your motor.-----But that is the way it is wired on motors that I have !---

    The clicking is normal.----Nothing wrong there.---Check for spark on all leads.-----Do a compression test for reference.----Install another prop and test run.

    20hp Johnson 1983 - Push Button Start Wiring

    From the solenoid battery + side you feed 12 volts to your push button switch.------From the push button switch you go to one small post on the solenoid. ---From the other post you go to one spade on the neutral ( white plastic ) safety switch.----Note the safety switch only needs ONE WIRE !!

    JW-10 will start, then die.

    Look through the inspection hole in flywheel.-----Inspect coils , clean and set breaker point through that hole.-----In my opinion hard starting is usually due to weak spark.-----So does spark jump a gap of 1/4" on a test device.----Do not trust inline testers with a glowing light !

    If it holds those pressures it is all good.---Fill with the best BRP specified oil for it and go fishing.

    Agreed it could be the wrong solenoid.----Simply because the parts counter clerk and the buyer do not know that there is a difference.------And the model # of the motor is still top secret.

    Is there any water getting in your gearcase ?-----And some oil leaking on that outboard might be normal.-----It would be the oil that is mixed with the gas !

    Is the magneto plate bushing loose in the plate.-----Believe it or not if bushing is not lubricated it will wear from vibration during every minute that the motor runs.

    The company / shop where i used to work makes precision parts.------Can hold tolerances of +- 0.000020"( 20 millionths )-----They now gets drawings in with an extra note.------Says " no materials sourced from China allowed in the manufacture of the product "

    Short to Long Shaft swap on a 1995 20HP

    The swapping of parts gets into fine details.------You might have to pull the powerhead to install the longer exhaust housing.----You might have to pull the gearcase apart to install a longer driveshaft and shift rod.
