A new 4 barrel carb and intake will set you back less than $1000
Watching auction sites and posting sites and you can find good, used for half that.
$1500 for a carb means you better get kissed, because you just got shafted
And what is the towing capacity of your SUV?
What you normally see is dry weight (no fluids), and if it's a boat with an outboard, the weight is without motor
Typical single axle trailer is 600-800#, typical tandem axle trailer is 1200#
@jimmbo I had an opportunity to tour Barr when working on the Verado CAC. They make castings for Edelbrock, Volvo, PCM and many more. Lots of design commonality across various brands
installing a carb spacer and increasing plenum volume increases low and midrange
BTW, Volvo Penta manifolds and Edelbrock manifolds both come out of the exact same casting boxes at Buddy Barr castings.
Not sure what your issue is with your motor, however I suspect tuning and potentially carb...
Other than making sure the HIN and paperwork match, you have a boat with an OMC stringer in it
Boat brand means nothing to trouble shooting and fixing your issue.
If you are looking for a manual, it doesn't exist other than the OMC factory manual
FWIW.... For pulling tubes, putting around, fishing, swimming, diving, golfing etc. I would get a tritoon with one or two big outboards and a front mounted swim ladder
First, get a new mechanic
Do the work yourself
Work with your local machine shop
Head job between $100 and $400
Full remanufactured long block between $1500 and $1800
New GM long block $3400
There is no sensor
You have a bad or multiple bad connections
Start by cleaning every connection from the battery to the helm and back
That is about 18 lug type connections, about 40 ring type connections and about 50 various other connections
Start googling 3-prong trailer wiring plugs.
If it was me, non insulated butt connectors and epoxy lined heat shrink tubing and I would be done in 5 minutes
i would be suspect of the head gasket
yes, you most likely fried the voltage regulator.
there are some 30 amp outdoor power equipment regulators I would be willing to try if I was in your shoes.
No, they are not the same part number
your motor is a GM 454 Mark IV. push rod diameter is 3/8" length is 9.252 and 8.280"
the Gen V uses 5/16" diameter and 7.850 and 8.873
the Gen VI uses different length. 8.569 and 7.592 "...
pull the motor
clean the motor outside the boat
install the motor on an engine stand
run the motor on the stand if you want. or screw together a few chunks of wood. its not hard
here is my big block running on 4 chunks of pallet wood
I would nail down what you want out of the boat
you can pull tubes behind almost anything including a pontoon boat
you can slow cruise behind almost anything including a pontoon boat
you can ski best behind a ski boat. However you can also ski behind boats with outboards and I/O/s
if you...
