you pull your distributor apart. you measure the shaft diameter, the bore diameter and the length of the bushings, and you go to NAPA and buy distributor bushings for the right shaft diameter and housing diameter

    Mercruiser 5.7 won’t make power

I made an a-frame from 2x10's, 2x6's and 4x4's. then when I was done, I used the lumber to make a mezzanine on the rented storage unit. using the engine hoist in the truck works. just be careful the cargo tie downs do not come loose. they are only welded in the sheet metal.

if you can put some permatex#2 between the speedi sleeve and the rusty spindle, it may keep the water out to get you thru the season.

    Mercruiser 5.7 won’t make power

Unless you abandon wet exhaust and run jet boat headers, that cam has too much duration. 270 degrees is the max duration for wet exhaust

    Transmission Woes in Vintage Mercruiser

I would buy new cables and follow the manual on adjustment. cables stretch slightly, however mostly the inner sleeve wears and the throw is not the same. being that your boat is 60 years old, you should be moving to the 5th set of cables by now as they last about 15 years.
