The motor has the same architecture. The same bad head design. The same bad combustion chamber. Your old points dizzy was set to 4 degrees of base timing with a maximum advance of 24 degrees for a total timing of 28.
The est dizzy will adjust up to 28 degrees.
Unless the bearings go bad from a leaking seal, the circulating pump will usually outlast the motor.
550 hours in 27 years is quite low. Average use is 50 hrs per year
Suggest you use the boat more
If the motor was running hot, you may have killed it
How hot is hot? Anything over 180 means you have an issue.
When was the last time you serviced the impeller and did a drive service?
You never buy parts until after you machine the block. Only way to do it, is to buy a new stock bore block and buy new stock bore rotating assembly
Agree with others, take it to your local engine builder
