    Yes, provided the seal on the muffs is good. Having a flush valve which is spring loaded requires more pressure to over come The flush port has a check valve to keep water from going back to the drive. The one below is a Perko. If I installed one I would use 2 ball valves

    Can make up your own test kit. Need a at least a 4000 psi gauge, Tee fitting and couple valves. The most costly part would be the valves Merc stuff sells the kit for $380 where others are selling for $800 or so.

    I'm seeing a PCV valve going to the base of carb or intake. This would be the place to connect the vacuum gauge. Also before connecting the gauge, pull the valve from the cover and place finger over the valve to see if it idles down If this does not help then try to move the distributor
