    Timing issue;1998 Mercruiser 3.0 liter 4 cylinder

Motor should be warmed up Connect the jumper at the distributor and jump the interrupter switch wires together. If motor dies timing is probably to far out

    Mercruiser 3.0 in colder weather

Sounds like you got it, only thing in the manual it discusses probing the drive holes, and crank the motor (without starting) slightly to clear water from pump

    Mercathode - Worth it?

    Should probably use Aluminum

Mercathode System removed. How to I tell if it works?

It is tested by having the boat in the water for at least 24 hours, and plugged into shore power. Need a platinum coated wire probe and it gets connected to a good multimeter. Meter is placed on millivolts and probe placed in the water behind the drive. The negative on the meter is connected...

    ENGINE Stalling

Not sure which year or serial number your motor is, but there should be a connector on the shift plate which connects to the interrupter.

    Transfer case motor

2008 Ram 2500 and the service 4WD light comes on every now and then for the past week or so. Been busy so didn't get to it until today. Thinking it may be a bad connection, removed the connector and all good. Read up on the issue and most lead back to the transfer case motor. So I'm putting...

1998 Mercruiser 5.7 Engine alignment problems

I'm thinking rear engine mount needs replacing and/or the transom assembly has been twisted Have you tried loosing the front mounts, use a hoist to lift the motor just a tad off the bottom nut from the thermostat housing, then adjust the bottom nuts up until they just touch the bottom of the...

    Fuel pumps again

Attached is the wiring diagrams I have and both list for 5.8, but should be same as 5.0. The first shows a 12.5 amp fuse inline, but the next does not, same as with the diode

1998 5.7 gsi power loss occasionally

The pattern will look good even if the pressure is higher then required, it will just put more fuel in then needed. Might be able to rent a fuel pressure gauge at the local auto store, just need a Tee fitting to place inline at the TB

    Class Action Thoughts only

This is just the thoughts about class (CA) action law suites and not actual ones other then to use as points of interest. As a non-attorney and have an understanding that lawyers like CA's because if they do win, they get to get paid first before the pie gets divided up further. So in a...

Deck and Fuel Tank Replacement Plan

Not understanding what your asking but will offer this. The stringers should not come in contact with the hull, if they do this will be a hard spot. A hard spot can cause cracks I would have removed the entire strake and replaced as one piece. The one cross frame has been moved forward...

This timing is killing me, should be this hard

Light bulb just went on, you have a EFI motor, so you shouldn't be using the shunt. There should be a connector on the distributor which goes to the ECM. The connector is not to be removed to install a shunt, the DLC connector is used to place the motor in base timing You need a paper clip...

This timing is killing me, should be this hard

I'm seeing that you should have the EST distributor, and i this is the case, then you connect the shunt and connect the wire "to a 12V source" The below pic is for a Merc and you don't have a shift interrupter, so just connect the lead to 12V

Alarm sound stays on and wiring issue

Could use a motor serial number, don't even know the year, efi, mpi, carb? With the motor not running the oil pressure switch sounds the alarm. Once started it would shut off Does the alarm stop when the motor starts? Check the neutral safety switch inside the throttle control

    Winterize a 1993 7.4 Bravo Gen V

Have not said if the motor is closed cooled (heat exchanger) or not?? Being a 93 it wouldn't have Blue plugs unless they where change to them by the PO. It would normally have 1/8 NPT brass plugs. The PS cooler will have a plug when removed will drain the hose coming from the seawater pump...

Should I reuse these old fuel water separators?

I think I know which questions you might be asking but would be better if they where just asked so we can cover them to the best of our non-expert options Note these are all done with "IF" they are used, and not are used Speaks of material which must be used if metalic is used. Another if...

Don't have other thoughts, but a voltmeter is the only way I would know of tracing the power, need to trace from the horn. This is a Gxi-C/D and may be of help

    Tractor A/C pressures R134a

Trying to determine the correct pressures for my Kubota M9540 tractor. The cab filters are clean and so is the radiator and condenser. Looked into the duct work and the damper doors look to be working correctly, and it does go into cab air recirculate. Pressures on a 85+ degree day is 50 psi...
