    Could be some dirt floating around in the bowls.-----Could be dirt in a float valve.---=---Simple carburetors and ultra easy to work on.------If you own an older Force motor you simply have to learn these simple procedures or pay the man $100/ hr !

    Put timing light on plugs.-----Observe the flashing light when motor bogs.------May help you determine if it is ignition related.

    Two stroke outboards in good condition start right up.------With the right starting procedure of course.------If you have one with the " crank and hope " syndrome , then the motor needs attention.

    The 2 cylinder 40 / 50 HP models never had stickers with 100:1 mix on them.-----That was a short lived concept on the 30 HP and smaller motors around 1986 to 1988 models.

    You start with a compression test------Followed by a s[ark check.-----Sounds like it is running on one cylinder.

    If spark jumps an 8 mm gap it would rule out ignition issues

    PIVOT PIN INSTALLATION

    Bottom half of the gearcase.----Also called the skeg.-----Or lay motor on it's side and see if you can position shifter so you can see the hole.------Did this job many times 50 years ago when I worked at a Johnson dealer !!

    PIVOT PIN INSTALLATION

    Take lower unit off.----- Take the cap off.-----Assemble with clutch dog in forward and shift rod in forward ( up into the unit ) and install cap.----Install pin.
