    Its all gone wrong

Probably blew the module, distributor pick up and/or tachometer. Go thru this chart and see what it tells you. It says TB5 but is the same for TB4 Do remove tach lead from - side of coil before using chart. Could also try starting after removing tach lead

1977 120hp omc sterndrive starter circuit problems

Check the voltage on the start post of the ignition switch to see if 12V remains when the key is released. If it remins then your new switch is bad If voltage is not present, then check your wiring at the assist solenoid

Can bilge water get into the pds bearings and upper outdrive?

Not seeing a drive shaft being only 5 inches, the oil pan is generally a bit more then that and its not sitting on the bottom. What motor is it? In any case, the pic below is an Alpha and your in the VP section, but distances are the same, because the VP and Merc uses the same key hole cut...

Coil? Never had a coil go bad.

The motor has points so there will be 2 feeds to the coil. One without any resistance feeding the coil full 12V for starting (purple/yellow wire) One "with" resistance feeding the coil once it starts (purple "see dotted wire) Resistance is measured with ignition OFF and using an ohm meter

Fuel gauge won’t go below 1/2 full

Don't see anything blowing up, but would like to know how the switch works. Normally there would be two connections in the middle, and that would make it a DPDT Not finding two connections in the middle would make me think it would be a single "common" pole, so SPDT. My first drawing shows...

bilge pump manual switch not working (working float)

Think you have a SPST switch and is not a 2 way switch (ON or Auto). If this is the case then you may have 2 fuses as in this pic (ignore the alarm). You would not have a exposed splice, you have a brown and brown/white wires. The switch passes current, so there is either a fuse down stream...

Fuel gauge won’t go below 1/2 full

I understand what your saying (the fuel gauge goes full to empty as your move the arm) but appears your not understanding my point. Assume you tank is in the center of the boat. (I do not know how long the float arm is) Being in the center, most tanks are not square or rectangular. They are...

Merc 5.7L TKS Carb replacement with non TKS help

Agree, I would use the 12V connection coming from the diode, not the one from the Temp switch. In the drawing below you can see that power comes from the oil pressure switch. Remove the diode and find the side that goes hot after the oil pressure switch closes.

Thanks for the s/n, I'm seeing a MEFI-3 so this can make finding codes a bit easier Your motor has a fuel pressure sensor (item 14) and a shrader valve (item 6) to test pressure. Would like to know what the fuel pressure is https://www.mercruiserparts.com/bam/...31953/5725/100 If you get a...
