    Paint remover

Talked to Glass Dave on OSO and said to use a pressure the HF pressure pot with a 1.4 to 1.5 mm sprayer. Picked up one which holds 64 oz from HF, some MEK from another place, and another 2 gallons of VC from iboats. Got the boat back today and Lake Cumberland Marine did a great job. They...

    1989 Mercruiser 5.0l won't start when hot

Incorrect timing can cause heat to increase, but in a non-HP motor it isn't enough to notice. To find out if its the module, coil or other, your going to need to test. Suggest start with seeing if fuel is going down the carb when throttle is pumped. If you have fuel, then check the ignition...

2002 350 Mag Mpi port exhaust hot

While this is not the best pic, because it doesn't indicate the difference between raw and coolant. In any case, the Tee is a flush fitting and the piece on top is the flush connection. It is used to flush the raw water side with fresh water. This fitting is not used when the motor is running.

    Mercuriser 888 1976

There should be a Yellow wire coming from the key switch (S terminal). Cut the wire and run them to the neutral safety switch on the control. The pic below uses "Note 1" in the illustration identifying the circuit

    4.3l swap question

I would recommend changing over to the newer style cooling system. To do this you would use the 4 port thermostat and single hose to each manifold. You can install the older style on your newer motor, but would take more plumbing

Hot Exhaust Hoses on Ford 351w Inboard

Howdy There isn't a lot of items for a closed system. Stated the impeller was changed, but if the housing is scored or worn it may not be pumping enough water. Check your seawater pick up through hull, valve and strainer. Might need to go under the boat to get a visual of the pick up. See...

Wiring help needed under helm of Tahoe with mercruiser 4.3

As BT mentioned, the Yellow/Red wire is the start circuit. This should come from the Key "S" post then to the neutral safety switch, then to the small post on the slave solenoid. Put a meter on the wire and turn key over to Start position to see if their is 12V. Also check if there is 12V...

    Mercruiser 5.0 MPI distributor issue

First, it was not off by a tooth Second, with the misfire above 2000 rpm's its still not right Third, this is how you set timing for your motor Bring number one to TDC. To do this you need to make sure it is at TDC. Get a TDC stop bolt, and can be found at many places...

    Building a 12V Herbacide Sprayer

I hear ya Mike, have thought of that. Don't plan to fill it up, to start maybe no more then 50 gallons to see how it works, increase if it works out. Its an IBC type tank and if need be will put on a trailer. Wouldn't mind having a PTO but that is even more money. Guess I could make...

    Building a 12V Herbacide Sprayer

Instead of buying one, I'm looking into building a herbicide sprayer. Have a 250 gallon square tank on a pallet. So need a pump, tubing, bypass valve, wand, tubing and other stuff. Want to put the tank on the Kubota RTV and then have tubing to make a boom to spread out maybe 20 to 30 feet...

Cannot go faster than 10 MPH, but runs fine in neutral.

Correct, something overheated and melted. Since your boots are intact, I would say those are what's left of your exhaust flappers. And a clogged exhaust can cause your issues

    WTH is the starter solenoid.

The large wires on top the starter are grounds, the one outlined in red is the main cable from the starter solenoid to the starter. Don't forget the grounds can also cause the starter not to engage

What kind of prop lock is this and how do I remove it

Never seen one like that before, looks like it needs some kind of pin spanner wrench. Would also need to hold the key to the center when turning

    need starting advice

Not an OB guy and found no wiring diagrams on the newer 4 stroke motors. Maybe my comment will bring out an OB guy. That said Mercury has kept the wiring colors the same. Red - Battery power Purple - Ignition power (key ON) Yellow/Red - Starter Place motor in neutral Now the kill switch is...

    Alpha one shift cable adjustment

OK, and BT made a good point, if its an Alpha its not a Bravo anything. If its a Bravo 1, 2 or 3 adjustment is the same. What does your cable end look like?
