    1988 force Full throttle only 3500 rpm

    Idling / shifting at 2000 RPM will be hard on clutch dog and gears.-----Do the repairs before you damage those parts.-----Say there is a blockage in one carburetor , then no fuel means no oil !-----Or you have ignition issues.----Does spark jump a gap of 3/8" ( 1 cm ) on all leads ?

    The 10 and 18 HP are a very similar design.-----Very good motors to own if you take the time to learn the basics of maintenance.-----Yes they use more fuel but you do not need $100 / HR dealer support or ignition parts at $250.00 a pop.

    Just take the heads off.-----I do not believe you need to worry about a removing sequence of the bolts or installing the heads again for a while.

    Correct -----And folks used to do that.----Today folks do not even want to lift the hood on a car to check the oil !!!------Where I go you see up to 8 vehicles getting gas , never see a hood up.----Note,--- the 50:1 does not need to be precise for the motor to start and run.

    Please be clear.---Are you sure the water tube is in a rubber grommet at both ends ?------Was the water tube installed in the upper grommet first ?

    There is supposed to be an o-ring in a groove at the top of the drive shaft.-----Grease is to be used on the spline.----O-ring keeps water out.-------Many motors were not maintained properly.

    Do a compression test and report the numbers you get.----Revisit your water pump work.------Hopefully you are running at 24:1 mix ratio.-------I doubt this is a fuel / oil issue !!!!

    Could be part of a " preventer " ----or a ---" handy billy " ---As well.

    Nope----Just remove the cylinder head and it will be obvious what is wrong.------Scored cylinders or a hole in a piston
