Is there a better gear oil pump out there?

Mine is over 15 years old and still working, but I only use it for the boat. It does look cheap and I am surprised it is still functional.

    Edelbrock 1409 woes

I would prefer a Holley carb over a Edelbrock carb any day, but if it was my boat I would convert it back to fuel injection. I had a boat with a carb for 17 years and had to mess with it at least once a year. My current boat with fuel injection is 16 years old and only had to clean the...

    dual battery

Not sure what you call it, since it has been over 15 years since I purchased mine. But it is a module with two big diodes in it that allows both batteries to charge at the same time regardless of the switch position.

    dual battery

It can be set up so it charges both batteries at the same time. Mine came that way from the factory. But will only draw power from what ever battery is switched on.

    dual battery

Agreed. I would call it a 5 position switch.

350 Mag MPI chugging at higher rpms

There are a lot of things that can kick in guardian mode. I used to take mine into the dealer to read them, but found a guy on eBay about 8 years ago selling refurbished Mercruiser code readers. My dealer was speechless when I told him I had purchased one.

    dual battery

Running both batteries at the same time makes sure they will both be dead at the same time. IMO you should only run off one battery at a time. Then when you switch over you know to charge the drained one.

    Trailer Tires

If you don't drive very far then you probably don't need to balance them. But if your lake is hundreds of miles away, like ours, get them balanced.

What is the effect of decreasing Prop diameter?

Sounds like you now have too much prop for your boat. Probably much slower getting up on plane and make it harder to get a skier up.

4.3L OMC Cobra Conversion From Points To Electronic Ignition

That is what I remember having to do with my 86 OMC 4.3L. It looked like a kluge and I ended up taking it out since it didn't seem to run any better. But I am rather dated since I sold that boat in 2005.

Best manual stapler for replacing carpet on bunks ?

What is the best manual stapler to use when replacing the carpet on the trailer bunks ? Since I will be doing it in the parking lot by the ramp while the wife is out cruising the lake, I am hoping that there is a manual stapler that has more power than the Arrow T50 that I have used for years.

Anyone use synthetic nylon winch cable? Or anything besides steel?

As stated by others I would never use a steel cable again. Can't imagine how any aspect of using a steel cable would be better than a strap.

Questions about starting a marine repair business

I agree that a mobile service might be an option. I used a mobile boat repair guy that would fix the everyday things at your place and if it was major, take it to his place. The only reason I quit using him was he got so busy, his waiting list was a lot longer than the dealer I purchased my...

What is this gel-like substance in my carb? Mercruiser 3.0L Alpha 1

We have no choice but to use gas with ethanol. So I put Sta-Bil 360 Marine in every fill up. It is advertised as an ethanol treatment and stabilizer. Even if it doesn't work, it makes me feel better.

    Anybody use sandshark type anchor

They won't work around here since the shore line is mostly rock. But tying off to trees works well.

Generic drugs are a good buy

Plus I have noticed that GoodRX is cheaper than my insurance in most cases.

    Engine Replacement/Upgrade

IMO if you don't like the motor, sell the boat and buy what you want.
