1987 chaparral 5.7 rough idle and bog under a load

Yes. ;) And I'm a little funny about spending good money on parts if they aren't even going to be in the right ballpark to begin with. And that would be assuming I could get a "real" 1409 to begin with and not some converted model introducing yet more variables.

1987 chaparral 5.7 rough idle and bog under a load

...and just like that, my interest in getting a 1409 disappeared.

    2002 Bayliner 1952

Welcome to Club Bayliner! I recently purchased an 03 model and had the same issue. This is what you want to look for, and how it goes in. You can get universal kits for peanuts that will have many attachments on it. Just cut the others off and use this one.

    Custom dash companies?

Anyone have one they have worked with that they can recommend? I'm looking for someone that can either read or know the dimensions on my current gauges insert and work with me to create a new hybrid panel I can move my gauges and new chart plotter into. Google shows a few places out there...

    Happiest Day of Ownership !!!

Late to the thread, but grats on the new addition! That's a beauty! Looking at your drive units, I'm having this overwhelming urge to go outside and crank up the pressure washer. :ROFLMAO: I'll be following along on this one as I'm considering something in this class next season.

    Making extra step for ladder

To the points about bouyancy, I would go a different route. Get a thick one foot section of gas pipe at the hardware store, thread floor flanges on each end, then use carabiners and chain to hang that off the bottom step.

Does EFI solve the hard start/cranking issue?

Funny timing. I just had the fuel pressure regulator go out on a 20 year old motorcycle that is efi. New part still available and fixed it right up.

Managed to brick a new Garmin 93SV

Update: issues mainly resolved. 1.5 hours on the phone today with them and it appears there was a problem with their map file. They pushed an updated version and that one is working. Now to figure where to mount the thing.

Lake boat sizes: Is there a trailerable sweet spot?

Thanks! Lake Hartwell on the GA/SC border - 56k acres, 962 miles of shoreline. It's "hooj!" Some of the open water sections can get right interesting. :) But it has rivers feeding it, so exploring into those is a different ballgame.

Lake boat sizes: Is there a trailerable sweet spot?

Thanks @Scott06 That sounds great. I have a 1500 pickup already, and have done a fair amount of heavy towing of moving trailers and RV's with it. But to your point - I also don't want to go up so far I'm running into the serious GPH ratings.

Lake boat sizes: Is there a trailerable sweet spot?

I’m curious what size lake boats you old timers like for cruising around and occasional water sports. I’m enjoying this 18’ bowrider with 4.3l sterndrive. However, we get a lot of windy days here and I’m thinking about something longer next time. (edit: I have a 1500 class pickup and don't mind...

    Anyone running the new 4.5?

Pretty neat packaging on that one. Especially putting the oil filter up top. Looks to be a lot more maintenance friendly.

    Random

@dingbat Yes! Exactly what you said. I've got two words for people that believe aging defeats us: Jack Lalanne https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_LaLanne Yes, he was a nutball, but his accomplishments and mindset are something we as a society should really be paying attention to. Not to...

2021 Ram Oil and fuel filters

Nothing to them. Just messy is all. I've been changing the oil on my 2011 Ram since new. Some guys get all into makeshift funnels and divertors but I just put old cardboard under the filter area and catch most of the mess in the oil change pan. Wipe off the dribbles and get used to having an...
