    loss power

    1989 90 hp....today got to ramp,motor started right up,put in gear idle out from ramp then went to take off,no power,rmp's only make it to 2200,it netural motor will go all the way up,no problem.....test comp. got 110,110, 105, 100, out in the sun I can see a good blue spark.....last time run...

    model # is J90TLCEM, the tach has a sticker on it that reads( For use on 5-6& 10 pul/rev alter outboard & 6 pul/alter sea drive engine.use position 3 for 10 pul/rev...... the dial that moves has the numbers in this order 2 ,3 ,4,6,5 my tach is set to 4...is this the right # for my motor, I...

    too much prop slip

    1989 90 hp johnson... motor has had a lot of running problems but everything seems good now. 14x19 prop. 3 blade... motor turns pass 5600 rpms with 2 people but only getting 35.5 mph on gps...the best I saw was 38mph an that was 5900 rpms,,,anything I can try too cut back on the prop slip...

    replace vro fuel pump (TEST RUN) pics

    1989 90 hp...in the first pic is the pump...sierra 18-7352,replaces omc438556 and a plug for the pulse line.Also had to get 2 .10-24--2" bolts.I mounted the fuel pump upside down so the fuel lines had the shortest route to fuel manifold.I gave it a test run in the yard an all seemed good so...

    I have a 90hp 1989 johnson and am 99% sure the fuel pump is getting week, motor run great but at idle it sometimes shuts down an primer builb will be soft,other times at high rpm it will start to surge up an down then start running good again, fuel pump is old....no way can I spend the 300- 400...

    VRO is now gone ( new problem now)

    1989 90hp.... motor is running good at WOT 5500 plus rpm, but at idle it smokes like crazy an very hard to put in gear to take off.as soon as the motor is good an warm it will idle while in gear, but if you shut it off an wait 10 min.s you have to go thru the whole routine trying to get it in...
