    Spark Plug Gap

Since my engine has been converted over to electronic ignition does my plug gap stay the same as what is recommended in the manual? Can't remember if this has anything to do with it or just the coil output.

    CAI For Boats?

I have wondered if running a tube up & under my back bench seat would produce positive results. There is about 8 to 10" under the bench seat which is where much cooler air would be. Curious to know if it is possible & possibly beneficial.

    Thermostat

Is a thermostat actually needed on a boat motor or can you just run an open system? If one is necessary is there a difference between auto & marine?

    Gelcoat

I have a small area that I have repaired that I will need to cover with gelcoat. Might be covering the whole boat within a year. As I was looking to purchase some on ebay I noticed they have some with wax & some without. What is the difference & which is preferred? Another question for an 18'...

    Gasket Set

I am purchasing a long block so it will have marine head gaskets. Also purchased new exhaust manifold system so those will be marine gaskets. Question is can I get away with a regular Fel Pro gasket set for everything else (pan, valve cover, timing chain, intake)?

    Wobbler Wheels

I was given this Load Rite system off of another trailer. The only easy way to get it installed with out some welding was to do it like I did on some cross members. It is sitting 4 to 6" inches higher off of the frame now. Does any one think this is going to make the center of gravity too high...

    351W Water Pump

Going to put a new water pump on my new long block. Summit has one for about $130 but it shows that it is for autos & marine. Wouldn't a marine water pump need to be different since it doesn't have antifreeze with lubricants flowing through it?

    Intake Manifold

As some of you have read I am having to put in a re-manufactured engine. I read where a guy over on the Mark Twain forum put an Edelbrock Performer Intake on his while he did his engine swap. Question is are marine intakes the same as auto? I seen some used performer intakes on e-bay for $50-100...

    351W Engine Swap

I might attempt to do this myself. Can anyone out there tell me how difficult of a job this is? I have an 18' 1978 Mark Twain OMC Bowrider with a 77' 351W engine. The interior is already out being re-done so that won't get in my way but concerned with pulling it apart from the drive unit &...

    351W Heads

Does this mean I need new heads or can I attempt to clean these out? I suppose even if I could get all of rust out the valves will be frozen in their seats.

    Hydraulic to Electric

At some point I may want to consider switching my trailer over to electric. Is that an expensive upgrade & is it difficult to do?

    Booty Question

No its not what you think guys! :) I was wanting to know if Amor All or something similar is ok to use on the outdrive boot to keep it from cracking? I have heard there are certain grades of rubber that you are not supposed to use protectants on as it can cause premature failure. Just thought...

    Waterproof Interior Pieces

When waterproofing interior pieces such as seat cushions & side panels can you just coat the plywood in resin or do you need to put glass in it as well to keep the resin from cracking. I know pieces such as the floor & seat with no support need glass for strength but didn't know about decretive...

    Exhaust Manifolds

I know OMC means good luck finding parts but does anyone know where I can find a couple exhaust manifolds for a 1977 351W 235hp? I know somewhat about auto engines but little to nothing about marine engines & where to buy parts.

    Boat Floor

I started this project nearly 10 years ago. Between the Great Recession, moving, no money, & then no time it just didn't get completed. Now I have a little more time & money I am wanting to get it put back together & maybe get it on the water this year. I thought I did a good job for my first...
