    Axles welded in place? That's typically the only other option. My bow stop is movable but I can't move the boat any further forward as it's at the end of the support on the transom roller. But I can move my axle back about a foot. Surprisingly the swap from the 3.0l to the 4.3 hardly changed...

    The label is the only difference. Well and price. There might be a slight change in the formula but I wouldn't pay for it. Use good fuel and it's not necessary.

    My sump temps run at radiator temps... in the winter it is actually hard to get the oil warm enough! 150F is about it unless you idle and have little air flow. The marvels of modern technology.

    I haven't scaled mine since the rebuild but I can still pickup and move the tongue, it's just quite heavy. With my weight it should be in the 2-300 lb range and thats about right. Could always check it with a bathroom scale. You shouldn't max that out and thats how I used to do mine. Not 100%...

    So just watching that video a few things jumped out at me... 1. Fully encapsulated stringers that clearly weren't fully encapsulated. 2. Hardware just slapped in with no bedding. 3. The liner is a great idea... but it still appears there are a lot of places water could eventually get behind it...

    Dad said back in the day guys used to do that. So 80s/90s. They didn't blow up more or less than anything else did at the time but typically people who manage their equipment properly didn't have issues to begin with....

    That program took a lot of good beaters off the road. My c3500 qualified for that... and oddly enough has outlasted nearly every vehicle that was bought to replace it in the fleet... is what it is at this point.

    I wouldn't say reliable is the correct term. It is a lower maintenance item if anything. Points are damn reliable but require service. That being said the points in the 55 were cleaned and set with a matchbook by dad years before I was born.... I haven't touched them. Thing runs and drives...

    1995 Crownline 202BR Restore

    When I fitted (is that even a word?) Mine in I took a measurement at all 4 corners for height and set up the table saw angle to cut it. Not perfect but enough that a little PB fixed. Mine were much smaller though and I had a jig to use for the reference as I just made the old ones the year before.

    I got my girlfriend to be able to drive around a parking lot in about 5 minutes. Having 400 hp and about the same torque helps.

    If you ever do the conversion... please make sure the kit is using real GM ignition parts. (They're out there just hard to find) The modules in the sierra kits and the like are the same offshore crap available for the older HEI stuff and just don't last.

    I can repin a holley to work on almost any efi system if I have to. I can also cut gaskets and be on my way with a can of brake clean in most cases. If I'm being forced to use an efi system... 80s GM TBI is about as stupid reliable and simple as they come. Everything I own with carbs its never...

    215 sundowner transom

    Laminated ply is stronger than dimensional lumber. I made mine by stacking sheets and gluing with tite bond 3 then bedding with peanut butter and glassing over with 3-4 layers of 1708.

    1 layer of csm won't hurt fitment. The steering arm cutout notch may be difficult to glass. My original cutout was finished with a black oil based paint of some sort. Didn't do anything. Adding glass to resin improves waterproofing by a lot. Wood just sealed with gel or resin really doesn't...

    Mine were also laminated ply. For the wetting out, black contractor bags work fine too. Just don't do it in the sun... can help kick it off lol

    Trailer Tongue Too Long?

    I prefer the trailer axle as far away as possible when backing because it's more controlled... that being said, how adjustable is the trailer? If you could move the boat up further and adjust the axle forward an equal amount that would solve your problem as well I'd think.

    I'm fuzzy on the new rams but what's your limiting tongue weight on the class V? Like 2000lbs or so? You should be way under payload even on a 3/4 ton unless you have a lot of... stuff... in the truck As long as you're loaded to 10% on the tongue I'd say you'd be fine with either.
