Water pressure gauge or water temperature gauge?

As stated in #9, it's been replaced. Replaced with the new "mushroom" style and grommit was replaced also. Thanks for your reply.

    Steering Slack and Stiff Steering

Also on the port side of the motor, you can remove that big nut where the steering cable rod comes through the motor and replace it with one that has a grease fitting on it. They work great! Bass Pro sells them.

    Steering Slack and Stiff Steering

What motor do you have? There should be grease fittings on the steering tube on the motor. I told you how to grease the helm end of the cable. You can rub grease on the motor end of the cable by simply rubbing grease on the silver rod that comes out of the motor when you turn it.

Also, on the steering helm, the cable connects to one side and on the other side there should be a plastic tube that screws onto the helm. When the cable is pulled through the helm it goes into that tube. Put some grease in that tube also. If you grease both ends, it stands a better chance of...

Water pressure gauge or water temperature gauge?

Again, over the winter months, I removed cylinder head covers, cylinder heads and the intake cover to clean out all water passages. There wasn't much in there. I do have a live well that I removed the plug from to use somewhere else. I'll certainly replace that. The height of the motor...

Yamaha 85 steering link, lock nut thread size?

Not sure about you guys, but I've walked into my local Ace Hardware with lots bigger parts than that in my hand to find the correct nut. I've actually taken off my shirt before an handed it to them to match a glob of paint on it because I forgot the name of the color. Snatch it off and take it...

Water pressure gauge or water temperature gauge?

They did not solder a cylinder head. There were small pinholes on the top of the block in the water jackets. They use some type of solder to seal up the water leaks. No water leaks since then. No water leaking anywhere unless it's internal, but the motor runs perfectly fine and is capable to...

Water pressure gauge or water temperature gauge?

It's a 1999 S115TLRX. Salt water edition - for whatever that's worth. Now that you mention that, when I bought it, the guy sold it dirt cheap because he took it in for his annual service and there were some water leaks in the top of the #1 and #2 cylinders. The mechanic removed the cylinder...

Water pressure gauge or water temperature gauge?

Thanks guys. It's for a 115 Yamaha. As I continue to correct an overheating at high RPM problem, I'd like to know it's running hot BEFORE it makes the alarm go off. Seems like that indicates a pretty critical situation. Runs hot when going over 4000 RPM's. I've replaced water pump, Poppit...

    Is my motor toast?

Picture is much too close up. I can't tell what I'm looking at. Did it ever run hot? Were you mixing gas/oil at the correct ratio? What do you see inside there? Looks like it might be above the top combustion chamber. Do you see crakshaft in there?

    1986 Evinrude 110 fuel issue?

Unless you purchased carburetor kits, you didn't fully clean the carburetors. In order to really clean those carbs, you have to remove the lead plug (#2 on attached picture), the cover plate (#1) and really clean out those small passage inside there, and remove and clean out the passage on #3...

Water pressure gauge or water temperature gauge?

If you had room on your dash panel for one more gauge, and you had everything you otherwise needed, which of those would you choose for a 2 stroke?

    '98 115 Yamaha runs hot if over 4,000 RPM's

I've considered running with thermostats out, but wasn't sure if that was a smart thing to do Constantly overheating and backing off throttle to cool down is obviously not too smart either. Yeah, I limped all the way home yesterday at about 3800 RPM's (25 MPH), it was a relaxing, fun ride home...

my 115efi mercury idles high. Can I adjust it lower, and how?

Absolutely! Simply screw the idle adjustment screw counter-clockwise until you get the idle adjusted to manufacturer's specifications. I could help you, but I have no year model, model number or enough information to determine what carburetor you have. Once you figure that out, I'm sure you...

No idea. Might want to look around under the cover for more numbers. As I'm sure you've discovered, searching this number doesn't render any results.
