    Acceptable slop in rotary steering?

    My 2008 Four Winns H200 has power assisted rotary steering with some slop in the wheel. How much slop should be acceptable if any? I'd say right now it's less than 10°.

    Calm night tonight on the lake and I had 3 kids , my wife & I in the boat (2008 Four Winns H200 w/ carbed 5.0L). The brochure for the boat says it should too out at ~53ish but I only hit ~43-45 according to my iPhone GPS. WOT was at around 4500 RPM & I had adjusted trim as best as possible...

    I have a factory snap on mooring cover that is in great shape & fits snug. We're doing a 6 hour drive up to NY with the boat for the first time tomorrow & I'm wondering if it's safe to tow with the cover on or if I should take it off & stow it until we get there?
