    Best compromise for my 4.3...?

Re: Best compromise for my 4.3...? I too feel that your prop is fine. I agree that some sort of "planing aid" would help solve your planing issue. My approach is a little different. It's much less involved to install and will get you on plane in half the time. :)

Bravo 3 Propelles RPM Problem ?

Re: Bravo 3 Propelles RPM Problem ? This Mercury Racing's "base" high performance engine; the 525. The MCM line are recreational motors that they put in any boat. I guess it depends upon one's perception of "high performance". Your MCM 400 isn't going to do much better than mid to...

Bravo 3 Propelles RPM Problem ?

Re: Bravo 3 Propelles RPM Problem ? Holley carb for a 1996 Mercury 525 SC. Lots of Mercury engines (including virtually all high performance engines) use Holley Carbs.

    could it be propped wrong?

Re: could it be propped wrong? Solas makes a Rubex L3 SS 16 X 19 to fit your Bravo 1 drive. The extra blade area may be just the ticket for your application, since your prop is a 15.25 diameter(I think). The Rubex L3 is designed for heavy loads and high horse power applications.

    Prop slipping or?

Re: Prop slipping or? There is a 99.9% probability that there is nothing wrong with your boat/motor. If nobody has messed with the motor height, it should be OK(mounted with the AV plate even with the boat bottom). When using the power trim, don't leave it trimmed too high when trying to...

    12' Jon Boat Won't Plane?

Re: 12' Jon Boat Won't Plane? You want yours to look like the TRIMMED IN PICTURE. You do not want it to look like the trimmed out picture. If it's in the fourth hole, that's the trimmed out picture.

How fast should my bass boat go?

Re: How fast should my bass boat go? With an aluminum prop, that may be about right. That boat should run 43-47 mph with a Quicksilver Lightspeed 13.5 X 20 prop. :) Note: suggestion based on the Mercury prop selector. The Quicksilver Lightspeed is the same as the Mercury Laser. :)

    Replacement Prop

Re: Replacement Prop In 1996, there are two 5.7L's that are likely candidates to be in your Bayliner. The carbed version is 210 hp; the EFI version is 250 hp. The gear ratio is listed as 1.47. The carbed version is rated to 4600 rpm. The EFI version(s) can go to 4800 rpm. Most 21"...

is motor installed correctly? have porpoising problem at higher rpms

Re: is motor installed correctly? have porpoising problem at higher rpms Problem solved. You can believe, or not. Or, as suggested earlier, you can go to the nearest garden center and get a couple of 50 lb bags of play sand and place them as far forward as possible in the bow area. That...

    Thunderbird/Formula model question

Re: Thunderbird/Formula model question I believe the Thunderbird design is referred to as a Cathedral Hull. WellCraft took the design a little further in their Air Slot hulls.

Starting to look for a weekend boat

Re: Starting to look for a weekend boat Lots of folks just getting into the cruising life style start with something like this 24 ft Bayliner. There are a number of different brands in this entry size. There are lots listed on E-Bay within the southeast. Boat Test actually has a full test...

What is good speed prop for light boat?

Re: What is good speed prop for light boat? The transom height sounds fine. It's not unusual to see transom height of 22 inches on some boats. Before we go into prop selection(your 14" doesn't sound out of line), I am going to suggest that you try something that might well cure your handling...

Boat doen't run right with motor trim angle

Re: Boat doesn't run right with motor trim angle Re: Boat doesn't run right with motor trim angle The difference in weight between the Nissan 30 and 40 is only about 25-30 lbs, so weight shouldn't be the issue. We have determined from another thread ongoing on the prop forum that transom...

    I need some help...

Re: I need some help... Since both motors( 115/old 60) are V-4 types and weigh about the same( 250 lbs?), weight is a non issue. If there is a capacity placard, you aren't supposed to exceed it. This 1966 brochure says 65 hp. But if there is no placard( 1966 boat) you are fine.

    Bayliner capri cuddy fuel tank

Re: Bayliner capri cuddy fuel tank This a 1986 1600 capri cuddy. I bought one (new) in 1986. It did not have a built in tank; it used portable tanks under the splash well. As far as I know none of the 16ft cuddys had a built in tank. The 17 and 19 ft outboard models did have a built in...
